Incubation: Battle Isle Phase Four (PC) Game Review

This is such a great game, I loved playing Multi-player, I couldn't get very far in the single campaign though

What I don't understand, is how 90's games,like the Battle Isle series, can have such good enemy AI, and yet modern strategy games do not! I know modern games are dumbed down,. but you need some semplice of feeling that the AI is a "real" enemy! It seems European developers with titles like STALKER, Space Rangers 2 and this series just know how to create worlds and enemies that are believe and act as such!

I have to say I like this over U.F.O series purely on the depth and tactical decision you can make, but U.F.O. a better game because of it's broader strategic game plus the story is much more engulfing

Multi is the best! Best tactic game for 2 or 3 or 4 players!

The mission pack - "Wilderness" picks up from nowhere (why are we in the city again?) and lets you on the journey to the jungle. Although you need to go through 20 mission in the city.

It is a lot of fun since there are new scenery items - teleporters, moving platforms, new puzzles all around. In the forest however it gets very easy because you can gain control the fire bug and burn everything. There is an intriguing ending text that make you wish there was a sequel

Its $10 on gog.com bundled with Battle Isle series.

My thoughts on the game: the random factor is terrible when you have quicksave and load. I found myself reloading multiple times until the damage was right. Also by the end, My guys could take on anyone an there was no challenge anymore and the game ended abruptly.

Nevertheless I loved guiding my multple Judge Dredds through the missions =)

great game played it, remember laser squad? it's an older great game too, they should make a new game with special effects and videos on turn based strategy games, where you could see in 1st 3rd person view and others, many ideas you could develop your own weapons armours, characters faces names, colour, etc OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!­!!!!!!!!!!!

with Glide wrapper you can play as 3dfx. use compatibilty mode w98. looks great. its one of greatest games, its fun fun fun.

Perhaps you'll like the X-com series. Personally, I liked the original two X-com games much better than the new ones.

An excellent game and available as part of the BI pack on GOG now although you'll need to use a Glide wrapper to get 3D acceleration.The sections where you get to use the giant mech are a load of laughs but the game well worth the buy.

@markrichardbehenna It's called Incubation: The Wilderness Missions. And imo it's not nearly as good as the original. But if you want a new fix of Incubation you can't go wrong.

I'm not sure. Does this run on XP or is it too old?

@TheDarkDuck93 I was looking through old games a few days ago and found this (covered in a thick layer of dust heheh). Incubation runs fine on XP, just don't do the 3DFX mode. For the exapnsion pack I needed to run it in Win95 compatibility mode.

I'd strongly recommend trying this out, even if pirated.

I read about this game back in the day and got interested in it, not sure why I never picked it up. I wish it was available on GOG.

The main game didn't have a copy protection, the mission pack had one.

The mission pack sold better than the main game...

It's sad but true...

I spent so much Time with the Multiplayer-Mode. In the Expansion-Pack you could even play together as a team against the Aliens. A simply brillliant Game and I am happy to finally see a review of it on youtube. And a good one too. 5 Stars

By the way - for full disclosure, there was an expansion for Incubation called 'Hidden Worlds'. This expansion was HARDER than the original game, which itself was regarded as a hard game!
