The Fairness Doctrine, started in 1949, required broadcasters to present matters of public interest in a "fair" and "balanced" way; blatant bias and one-sidedness in news coverage were not allowed. The Doctrine was repealed by Pres. Reagan's FCC in 1987. Reagan's media advisor was Roger Ailes, who later founded Fox News. As if to stick his finger in the eye of anyone who longs for the days of the Fairness Doctrine, Ailes has a motto for his fake-news network: Fair and Balanced. Give up yet?
Yeah, he was a "genius", but one who was constantly commenting on the politics of his day. In his work, Twain often smashed those traditions into pieces. Doesn't genius affect us beyond an individual's lifespan? I was just playing around, but I suspect old Sam would approve of the sentiment. Thanks for your comment.
Fairness? Fairness? We don't need no stinkin' fairness doctrine. If you libs had any thing that people wanted to hear, Rupert Murdock and FOX would be all over it. Don't underestimate the greed of the media.
I was part of a tiny ad hoc group opposing a major corporation. They spent millions to push an amendment to our state constitution. All local TV and radio stations refused to air any opposing views or ads. We challenged them using the Fairness Doctrine. A month before the election polls showed over 80% in favor. On election night the amendment was defeated by less than 1%. Soon after Ronald Reagan's signature eliminated the Fairness Doctrine.
Today's democrats seek to fraudulently use the United States government, putting their people into position for the purpose of redirecting the morals of the nation and creating laws that make morality illegal in the United States.
These idiots will stop at nothing, since that would require morality to do so.
Take your so called morality and keep it to yourself. The greatest injustices in the world were done by people like you! Too bad there weren't more Lions back in Rome then we wouldn't have to put up with your trash spewing pusbag mouth!
Thanks again. The well-named Fairness doctrine only applies to news gathering org.s & never applied to entertainment television, movies, and print. Talk radio would be safe, most news on talk radio is supplied by satelite news organizations, so would remain unaffected and what it is now: Opinions. Mr.Twain was great at seeing both sides and changing his opinion when facts didn't support it. Maybe happy about this discussion, too.
The intention of this video was to amuse. The Fairness doctrine was NOT about any kind of censorship. It was to promote an informed populace by presenting both sides of issues reported. The public at present is well-informed only for their own side of any argument, which to me is uninformed. It's easy to agree with our own opinions: harder to understand both sides and then make an informed decision. Thanks for your feedback.

There are few people I think I would have loved to meet, but I think a Samuel Clemens conversation would be an intellectually stimulating endeavor.

This was well thought out but, what is the deal with the satanic sounding narrator? It kinda creeps me out actually.

What Twain would say is:
Today's democrats seek to fraudulently use the United States government, putting their people into position for the purpose of redirecting the morals of the nation and creating laws that make morality illegal in the United States.
These idiots will stop at nothing, since that would require morality to do so.

I think this video is quite clever. Twain seriously would have loathed Bush.

@phibes51 Have you heard the other side of the "fairness doctrine" issue?
There are both side to every issue & there is a reason the "fairness doctrine"
Is the EXACT opposite of what it calls it's self
