1) College exposes them to a large variety of people, including gays. Studies show that exposure to gays generally make people less homophobic because they no longer have to rely on rumors and negative stereotypes.

2) They are taught Critical Thinking, which forces them to examine Biblical stories and prejudices more critically and rationally.
