imagine following a cop chase with one of these run while streaming it to a mac mini hooked up to a projector and controlling the tricopter from your couch. dreams are free...
That was awesome footage mate! I have been to invercargill only once, beautiful town, can't believe this is the same place! Looks more like a town from siberia!
IMO the noise of the real thing is better than some cruddy music that only 1% of the population will enjoy. I found it interesting to listen to what goes on with the motors in flight.
The pilot sitting in this plane must have been drinking. I think Buzz Lightning would love you if he knew you had one of these, he would be flying it to save all his friends in Toy Story. I really wanted to see you dive bomb it in thru a window....eh eh. Keep up the good work
@TRVABL Range is Line of Sight, seveal kilometers with the 2.4ghz radio link, the trouble is since I am still controlling the model visually from the ground I am limited in how far away I can fly. Before anyone asks.. YES video downlinks are a viable option and YES I am looking at implementing a system in the near future to allow me to pilot the model from such a down link. I have had interest from local camera crews to do some more filming in and around the town.
@MSargeNZ cool. chris mentioned he spoke to you to out of interest too. did you just use a still camera set to video? or does it have a video transmitter on board? i've played with 2.4ghz transmitters for video that do about 5-10KM's that are under 100gms. cool idea though.
@kiwirock30 It's a Panasonic SDR-S7, pretty cruddy video camera by today's standards. No downlink at present, flying all visually from the ground. The video downlink that i get will be 5.8GHz, since I am using 2.4 GHz for my radio link and I want to mitigate the risk of any interference. All devices on 2.4 are supposed to work together but video transmitters have a nasty habit of smearing their signal across half the useable band! Best not tempt fate huh? Useable range should be 1 or 2 KM
@MSargeNZ Yeah analogue video uses much narrower but stronger spectrum power. Modern one's are reasonably good though, usually module based and well shielded/filtered. My 1000mW one doesn't interfere at all with my 4KM wi-fi link. The Wi-Fi link only has 20dB S/N so if it was to cause a problem it'd be dead. Older senders only output about 10mW. Bumping up the TX remote power would certainly help.
@kapitman69 it's just a small panasonic Standard Definition handycam, records to a microSD card. There are much better cameras available such as the GoPro HD.
