  • 0 DISLIKES!! BOO YAH!!!

  • my hs wind symphony is playing this and when i play the last three chords my WHOLE FREAKING HEAD IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE! but its a pretty awesome piece, my band director did some awesome stuff with it.

  • "At the time of the work's premier, this movement was not performed because the professional wind band Grainger had chosen was unable to play the movement." taken directly from Wikipedia on Lord Melbourne.

  • thumbs up if you played the euphonium solo!!

  • I am an Englishman born by birth, Lord Melbourne is my name...

  • @GrandeAdmiral79 In Devinshire i first drew breath, that place of noble fame:)

  • Euphonium

  • @airie65 because it was only one measure on 2.5/4 if it were 2 measures then 5/8 would make sense

  • I was listening to a pianist talk. The pianist said there was no such thing as 1/4. Then I told her that it did exist and that I had played it. She said: " D: No way!" I said: "Yes. Grainger wrote that." She said: "Oh. That explains it."

  • My cat heard this and felt it was so awesome that she had no choice, but to jump on the keyboard.

  • ZOMG, I loved this movement--all the epic chords, and trumpet solo ftw

  • represent bass trombone!

  • The reason I love playing bass trombone xD

  • altosolo :)

  • 2½/4 = what the actual fuck.

  • @orangebhuddy29 i have seen 2+3/5 + 3+2/5 as a single time signature :P

  • @tromuniapp yeah it means you divide the feeling of five into groups of two and three, or vice versa. Holst did this too in Mars, although it was just written as 5/4, you could feel it in groups of 3 and 2. I've seen 2+3+3/8

  • @MasterOfDisguise116 have you ever heard of "prism"? because that's where its from. damn hard peice for a freshman trombone player, and damn fun.

  • @tromuniapp nope...havent heard of it, ill look it up. im a sophomore french horn player, but play all the brass instruments. trombone is the most fun in jazz band, but its hard.

  • @orangebhuddy29 It actually comes out to be 5/8. Not sure why Granger wanted it 2.5/4

  • Even though I am a bass trombone player and am loving the loud notes, my favorite part is the oboe/piccolo duet. Awesome melody and cooler tone color!

  • It's times like this I hate sitting in front of the bass trombonist

  • Pieces like this are proof that band as a whole would be NOTHING without brass! Go Trumpets!!!

  • mmmmm that base trombone

  • I always thought that the last chord should go right into the next movement. It just doesn't feel right when there's a huge pause before the next movement is played.

  • @VenomEmperor Last year my SymWinds did that between Lisbon and Harkstow

  • Played this entire song at NYSSMA as A Freshmen and got a gold with distinction. One of the comments was "Strong Horn Section".

  • @360Alexrules08 So did I. I was a freshman too.

  • My Highschool played this! The 3 chords at the end are made for the Bass Trombone!!!!!!!

  • props to percussion. They just sit back keeping track through the whole thing, waiting for their couple of rolls and hits.

  • god damn. the bass bones are perfect.

  • I love this entire piece! It brings back memories...

  • why is this not the last movement the ending to this is godly as a trombonist THIS IS almost as good as playing mahler or wagner

  • I love all of Percy Granger's music that I've heard.

  • they took measures 10-13 a little too fast for my taste; but goddamn can that brass section shake every bone in your body; AMAZING

  • At 2:40, I wish that it would sound like that EVERYTIME I walked into a room.

  • @ChrisFowskae that would be so awesome

  • At 2:40 it's like Jesus came in the room!!!

  • This song is so dramatic, I wish our brass sounded like this, only a few of theplayers do:(

  • The fact that Grainger radically changed Wind Band conventions just to maintain the integrity of the folk song speaks volumes about the time of man and artist that he was.

  • We're playing Lincolnshire Posy in concert band and this one piece would have to be my favorite out of the entire collection of movements. Though what gets me are the different rhythms and the free time portions in some of the sections. Though I am playing Clarinet 2 on this piece, the counting and rhythms can be tricky. The entire band freaked out at the weird time signatures. 2/4^1/2? Geez....That is a big "No, sir" when you look at it for the first time.

  • im in the wind ensemble which is the top band of our school and this piece is not easy but its fun. Playing the oboe is fun and the soloes are too but this 1 geez weird time signatures

  • being a sophomore this song is not easy wierd time signatures too 2.5/4? 1.5/2 wieerrd but this is my favorite movement

  • @suzaku152 2..5/4 = 5/8 just written differently. 1.5/2 = 3/4 just written differently.

  • When I first read this I was like how in the world do I count free time and 2.5/4 and 1.5/4 along with 1/8 time, weird stuff.

  • @lukachoo its easy, just pretend you have laser vision and try to burn a hole in the conductors forehead :P

  • i loved the 2.5 / 4 time signature :D

  • movement 6 is awesome for the tubas at some points if ur playing the higher part

  • @Nowscaric Ha, I think you mean the lower part

  • This movement is one big gigantic orgasm

  • I must say the most interesting movement to play for me was no. 3.

  • It's tough, but I think this is my favorite movement.

  • search itunes for united states air force band recording of this movement. it is the most amazing recording ever!

  • Last 3 chords = Epic conquest

  • @takigan last 3 chords = I just shat my pants

  • So. Freaking. Epic. Definitely my favorite movement out of the whole piece.
