The FMF factory 4.1 system has a 94db level. You can take the insert out and get more sound if you like. Also if you combo it with the FMF header you get like 1.5-2.0 db lower sound. All said an done it's the same if not more quiet then stock.

I have rocket exhaust on same bike. It's much throatier sound. Mine is also a 290 with stage two hot cams though. The sound didn't change too much. It does friking rip though

@XRrider22 if your looking into a trail bike you probably dont want a crf 250r. you need a tral bike like a crf 250 x or a 230f or a wr 250 f. The bike you have is more for motorcross

@XRrider22 if you do decide to get one you have to take all that california legal shit off THEN yes they are awesome. change out the throttle stop, put a different pipe on or put in the performance insert, remove the AIS, and change the one carb jet and fuel pin. im probabally forgeting some things but whatever. also im 300lbs and it pulls me up hills easily.

i have an 09. it will pull wheelies once you change the gearing. i did a 13 front sprocket and a 52 rear and it has a ton of torque. easy to turn in place. stock it needs to wound out a bit, but with a 150 dollar upgrade the torque band is much nicer. the pipe helps the top end a lot

it has to have mega power. i got an 03 and it has mega torque.all i did was a throttle stop mod for more throttle travel and rejet after i uncorked the exhaust.2nd and third gear you cant make the front end stay planted.

@xXballplayerXx231 yerr my coisin 's have hoda crf 250's (07-08) and i hav a 2008 wr 250 f.  the main difference i find is that the honda's have a bit more power at low reves but the yamaha have more at at higher revs but there both great bikes. i probably like my yamaha a bit more but because both my cousins had 2 replace there voulves, one once and the other one twice, wheras myn hasnt had a problem

im not a big yamaha fan but i like the wr and crf X bikes a lot ( yes i know crf is a honda.) but the x and wr are awesome bikes. they run close to as good as the yz and R but more reliable and smoother. that fmf sounds awesome and that cam does do a great job on sound.
