Not so, CashPresley32, as was explained in "The Night That Tabby Crabby Hit The Tube", Johnny Cash revised it so he sang about ole Hank. But everybody knew they he had Tabby Crabb to thank.
This really hits home. I saw Porter, Dolly, Spec Rhodes and the Wagonmasters at the Buckeye Lake Skating Rink, Buckeye Lake Ohio in '69 or '70. I was in the 8th grade. It was a great show that I'ver never forgotten and I looked forward to it for weeks.
Tabby, I'm so flattered by the complimentary comment you left on my video, that I decided to return the compliment right back. And since parody is the purest form of flattery, I wrote a parody of this here song called --- apologies in advance for the poetic license, but I needed the extra syllable --- a song called: "The Night That Tabby Crabby Hit The Tube."
You may wonder: the 1985 tube? the 2007 tube? You decide. Mercifully, I only wrote one verse and a chorus.
The Night That Tabby Crabby Hit The Tube Verse: We could all afford to drive our trucks, A tank o' gas was only 15 bucks, A working man could still buy meds and food, The Night The Tabby Crabby Hit The Tube. Chorus: Johnny Cash revised it so he sang about ole Hank, But everybody knew that he had Tabby Crabb to thank, And noone even watched the Family Feud, The Night That Tabby Crabby Hit The Tube.
This beautiful song is a nice tribute to the great Porter Wagoner who has passed on but lives on in the hearts of his many fans with so much sweet memories he left behind.
Great Video Loved Porter when Buck Trent was His Lead Picker , He hasn't had a hit since the split. Does anyone know the reason that They parted ways?
This is one of the origional songs when CMT first started on the airwaves. A couple weeks ago I was wishing I could see it again. I always loved the song. God does work in mysterious ways. I did a search for Becky Hobbs and found this video
No, it was originally this version. After we pitched it to Joe Popovich at Mercury he decided to change the lyric and cut it on Johnny Cash but Tabby's version came out first, definately.
Now please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this originally "The Night Hank Williams Came to Town"...I seem to remember, "how'd they get Miss Audrey in that dress.......am I right, or am I nuts ( welll ya know I'm nuts or I wouldn't be lookin stuff like this up)
man this is great to see Bobby and his material being put on YouTube. If you see Bobby again tell him Hello from all the "PolKats" down here in florida!

I remember this song. I used to LOVE it. How nice to find it here, esp thinking so much of Porter and feeling sad. Is the poster Tabby or Andy?
