They're piping John Prine's entire discography into my unit on a 24 hour basis. Nurses say I'm progressing at a remarkable rate--much better than they had originally hoped. I am John Prine's youngest fan.

Someone actually wrote "Dear Abby" using the Noisemaker verse. She responded to it with her usual words of wisdom and a few days later, she acknowledged that she'd been punked. Damn, I'm old and I remember too many silly things!

I will make some folks angry by saying this-- but John's music is at heart PITHY and a lot of it is actually funny and NOT LOVE songs as some folks would like to think-- MOST are NOT anything LIKE THAT! As a result of that --JOHN does'nt NEED anybody WITH HIM ! His stuff is done best when he sings by HIMSELF! The few songs sounding like love songs-sound moreso when sung w/a female partner I realize-but generally he needs no partner for his music, in my opinion-they're pithier done alone!

I love John Prine's music. I heard a song years ago and have not been able to find it since, and the titles are sometimes not so obvious, ( Bruised Orange, Spanish Pipedream). But the chorus went- "
