  • if freedom existed, freedom wouldn't exist!

  • "If there is no differences in the way we make our choices, there is no difference in the results, we not only become slaves of our own passions, slaves of popular opinion, and slaves of the majority, we start to erode slowly, but surely the foundation of civilization that makes our freedom possible." - I believe what this means is that the fear of disagreeing with the masses enslaves you to choose other wise. Not being yourself because the fear of difference is enslaving to the mind.

  • Freedom is God-given.

  • freedom is when you take control of your life away from the government...no free man is ruled by other men

  • happiness doesn't exist we just do things to get it and we wont get it no matter what, but the opposite of happiness doesnt exist either, don't worry we are all equal becuz of this,

  • Rights of: “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” are universal to all life from bacteria to humans; Life has the freedom in the pursuit of survival. Survival is a metaphor of Happiness fulfilling objectives of living, with the desire of procreation; life with a brain maintains an addition level of perceived objectives in the pursuit of Happiness. Therefore, these rights were here before humans and are indeed part of the Laws of Nature, transcending any human defined rights.

  • Kant's CI encompasses freedom while stressing the limits thereof; and the autonomy of the will in many respects allows for a very existential understanding to freedom, that is not subjective based upon a priori claims from pure reason.

  • If freedom means to do what we ought rather than to do whatever we want (as Pope John Paul said). Who decides what we ought to do? Does any man have the right/authority to impose that on others? Ahhh... the beginnings of fascism.

  • This video is making the distinction between positive and negative freedoms (I think) and considers the latter as true freedom.

Isaiah Berlin described positive freedom as "by whom am I governed?" and negative freedom as "by how much am I governed?" These people unfortunately do not deal with the practical problem of who decides wat we should b free 2 do? Who governs wat we can & cannot do? D Catholic Church (Acton institute is a catholic thinktank)? HA! look at its history & d idea laughable.

  • Freedom is subjective (existentialist)
