  • I remember this song was the motor for the critics to sentence "The New Pistols" in 1985

  • live in 85 - backs to audience, massive feedback, understand.

  • 0:53 fuck fuck fuck fuuuuuuuck fuck!!

  • look at them, the term metrosexual comes to mind, oh..... did not exist.................Thank you

  • haha, remember wearing black all the time and having the crazy hair too... one day I came home from school and my mum had thrown away all my clothes in an effort to convert me "back to normal"... didn't work out that well, dropped out of school and moved out some months later :-) Wild times.

  • Love this song but this video makes me laugh, in a good way!

  • the best band escocia!!!

  • i always tell my wife that if they played with more strings they'd get confused. To bad the don't play TORONTO,CANADA since BLUES FROM A GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jpmark111 hardcore is for people who don't like music.

  • @adamwhatever, you are an idiot. Start over. This is hte Jesus and Mary Chain, PsychoCandy, it's ALL feedback, yeesh. Way to not get it.

  • This type of song you can listen every day for 100 times, at least i do :D

  • If wasn't for the annoying feedback this might have been okay or good but its just awful and shite.

  • @Adamzbeplayingbass seems that you ain't got no clue. the feedback is an essential part of their musical style. I guess you might prefer sex pistols, then

  • @MrKarpote Haven't got a clue* I understand a lot of music.. but I just don't get the feedback, I don't understand how it adds. It's just annoying.

  • @Adamzbeplayingbass Look at their hairstyle. It's like the image of their sound. The feedback gives us a chaotic feeling. It matches well with the clean vocals(strangely enough!) I think that's the point.

  • @MrKarpote Alright, I don't listen to a lot of Post-Punk or New-Wave but in the end of the day, I'm being pretty ignorant here and not seeing it as something You like and treasure, It's Your music taste after all and You can like what You want. I understand what it's like when someone who doesn't understand You're music taste, criticizes it just because it's different and doesn't sound right to them and I apologize :) I will try and give this music like Shoegaze, New-Wave and Post-Punk a chance.

  • @Adamzbeplayingbass go away and learn then come back!!

  • @afrodids sorry adam shoulda been directed at mrk sorry fella

  • @Adamzbeplayingbass the feedback is just the whole point of it...

  • Cool!

  • I never knew there was a commercial video for this...

  • I always thought that if you speeded up your Echo and the Bunnymen albums they would sound like J&MC.

  • this is not hard to masturbate to at all!

  • I feel the need to crank this and blow my speakers..

  • GOOOD!

  • Oh man......I listen to this & it's summer 1985 again & I'm 15 without a care in the world. What an incredible tune.

I saw them at Leeds uni in late 85, supported by the Shop Assistants & Felt,

  • @InAnswer its your own fault if you have a care in the world now you should always feel utterly free or die

  • 0:00

  • Perfect...

Bought this on 7 inch vinyl when it came out and it still raises the hair on the back of my neck....

  • This song changed my life!

  • .

    thers nuffin 2 understand.

    .

    .O.

  • they're just so sexy in every way. lol

  • to the three quarters of the people i know

  • I have loved JAMC since I was a kid. They are like if the VU got stoned, and decided to go surfing in the dark.

  • I mean, I do respect jamc and appreciate their contribution to the current musical environment, but then again my ears fucking hurt, so...

  • @lkmrn325 FEEDBACK GIVES YOU BALLS

  • @wallerpaul70 Yes!

  • i love the casual kicking of the drum haha william i love u x

  • @madmonkeyness Only one short step to kicking of drummers.... and thats no bad thing...

  • Dissonance never sounded so good!

  • beach boysesque a bit with a touch of ramones

  • great!!! masterpiece!!!!

  • Just awful sounding

  • @MyHairyBreasts - I think you actually meant to say it's "Just AWESOME sounding". This is an absolute classic. One of the "go to" tracks that picks me back up every time my world is on the verge of falling apart for good. I've been a hard-core addict of their sonic elixir for the past 22/23 years now, with no hope or desire of ever laying off the stuff. Long live the Reid Brothers!

  • @QuadMochaMatti yeah but the sound is bad, bad vibrations.

  • this is pure cult, magic and creative gold!

  • for my wife

  • I

    Oh my life!!!

  • Fucking love these guys, they were so original at that time.

  • stop kicking bobbys drum(s)!!

  • Saw them in 1985 at Futurama festival - Deinze - Belgium. Great mix of Beach Boys, a Nilfisk vacuum cleaner and a metal saw. Minimalistic drummer proves that music can be good when its just plain and simple!

  • The noise makes the melody stand out. Brilliant song.

  • I'm I the only one who thinks this song would be better without all the screeching feedback?

  • @captaindaring Yeah :)

  • @captaindaring haha yeah I think so

  • @captaindaring

No, because that's what makes this band so unique from the rest. If you take away that feedback, what would you have? Just another post-punk band. So no, feedback stays, if you don't like it, you leave.

  • @tubbythug92 You meant yes. No implies that you agree with me.

  • @tubbythug92

No, They were still extremely talented when they took it off. Have you heard the acoustic versions of the early songs? Definitely still would have been unique because they were unique.

  • @unfamous13

I still prefer the noise though

  • @unfamous13

I still prefer the sizzleing feedback.

  • @tubbythug92

    As I agreed..

  • nah nah nah all those other bands can just fuckin die. I dont always go back to the Mary Chains records, I go back to THIS ONE RECORD and VIDEO. Everything I need to know about making and loving music is right here.

  • timeless sound.

  • When I play this loud of a Saturday afternoon all the neighbours come out of their houses and look up in the skies for the UFOs

  • don't destroy- create. ps 'Roses' tribute guitar ref ...also 'This machine kills fascists'.

  • @Tommyfazz They pre date the Stone Roses by about 5 years..... thats Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) on drums.

  • @SUBWAYROB1 ...yes Rob, well said!

  • @SUBWAYROB1 The Stone Roses formed in 1983 as did JAMC.

  • don't destroy- create.

  • Another classic song and vid. Been into these guys from the start.

  • fookin mana from heaven

    first record I ever nicked

  • fookin mana from heaven

  • Fucking awesome. It takes a while to get used to this sort of music though.

  • now we're talking.....this is what it's all about.............way ahead of thier time.... awsome... i still got my 12" version

  • now we're talking.....this is what it's all about.............way ahead of thier time.... awsome...

  • we need that time machine!

  • Ever listen to The Hole Truth and Nothing Butt? The Butthole Surfers sing this melody with different lyrics to "Something". It's really funny. "The sun rose up over my daddy's grave and I ate some cheese and rice today"

  • Will always be one of my all time favorite bands....

  • cuando me echo unos acidos con esta rola me superviajoooooooooo

  • @arielvlad MUY BONITO

  • I worked in a music store in Glasgow and sold them a fuzz-wah in 1985, I think. The week they first appeared on the cover of the NME. Nice boys.

  • 3 dislikes, never understand

  • Still got and cherish the album of them ;-)

  • Drugs?

  • are you sure it's white noise? it sounds like pink noise to me

A fantastic noise all the same

  • john squre mustve like these blokes a lot

  • @jymiurine went to se them many times...and can still hear.......(a bit)

  • if thats white noise i'll stick with black noise

  • this is how my tinitus should sound like :)

  • Comment removed

  • sweet white noise

  • I bought PsychoCandy in 1987, it was fun to watch how the VU metres sticked like glue on the top of the indicator. Their noisy guitars give me 'eargasms' =)

  • @adriackermann for a second, I thought you were Oliver.

  • aka Velvet Underground...yeah

  • bookmarked it. gotta see it quite so often.

  • I just love William Reid. He's just so damn sexy to me. Gosh. This is the only band to just make me go crazy as a 22 year old attractive female I can't complain about my taste :P

  • so slow loading... wtf?

  • genius, indeed.

  • Genius.

  • the worst part is 3:04

i wanna be drowned in this noise

  • fuck yeah

    ]

  • Coolest fucking rock n roll band since the Velvet Underground! Fact!

  • I love their sound, but man, I love their look a lot!

  • @ZetsubouKitten i love their look too... over the years i think they paid less and less attention to it but around this time and darklands they had kind of a more consistent aesthetic in my opinion, i love it.

  • это блять просто ахуенно

    они шедевры.

  • 1985. Oh, i remember that year, that was Live Aid. These were the first band on and they played this!.....No, wait, that was fuckin' Status Quo. "Giddy up, giddy up and get away" my arse.

  • I love the screeching its kinda distracting and confusing but it sounds so different.

  • @psyco4lp Pretty much the sound of the first album, Feedback

  • This is such a good song and I can definitely identify with it.

  • @lilacsbloom10 I picked this on good day bad day steve lamack spelt his name wrong sorry.an impotant song in my life

  • One of the best bands... ever!

    Noise!!! noise!!! noise!!!

  • Um dos vinis mais barulhentos queu tenho, e é ÓTIMO!

  • BLOODY SUPERB ! ! Gothic aura through pure distortion ; GREAT ! !

  • this is music.....wow

  • thanks

  • I find It funny that they were just another "post punk" band but created a sub genre of post punk accidentally called "noise pop" because of some sweet velvet underground hooks and lots of distortion. Post punk was all about experimentation with punk rock you can also experiment on experiment cool song!!!

  • Check out the Cheesy Fairy Chain version here on Youtube. (Please!!)

  • highly classical... wish i'd got down to the fire station that time....

  • drivel !!! phil spector production endless controlled feed back, echo chambers jumping about. meaningless lyrics, yeah record it put in the shops !!

  • A sort of version of where punk should have gone, but never arrived. Try Half Man Half Biscuit for the remains of punk in 2010, or whatever

  • love the music and the hair

  • <3 William

  • who wants to be the velvets??

  • the sun comes up another day begins, and i dnt even worry bout the state im in, legend

  • Start gazin' at your shoes :)

  • It's meant to have hiss and feedback!

  • this band was sucha huge inspiration to lots of contemporary bands i love today ^_^

  • yeah it was a good track once we got that weird hiss off, i mean youll never get it off entirely but...

    answers on a postcard...

  • @djboony get rid of the hiss? WHY ??

  • record industries becoming nazi's, they disabled embedding for john lennon "imagine", like he would give a fuck that people want to share his music!?

  • dude the record industry has been filled with money grubbing nazis for years, fuckin assholes.

on a side note, does anyone know what they used/did to get that sexy noise?

  • @storksforever2000

The sexy noise was debt just by the vintage Shin-ei fuzz wah pedal, locked in the maximum fuzz position, plus the coupling interferences they got pointing the semihollow Gretsch to the amp. That was all, nothing else. Saludos desde España.

  • @alexandro1011

    cool thanks man

  • bobby g is a drum machine ! ha ha awesome tune though x

  • bobby g rocking it mo tucker style. what a band!!!

  • So stupid that Rhino disabled embedding.

  • scotland

  • Fookin' good stuff. Nowt wrong with Scotland if these lads are owt to go by. Easily up there with the Roses!!

  • @hank3rox

    up there with anyone

  • @hank3rox I always thought that the Jesus and Mary Chain was the best band of the eighties till I heard the Stone Roses if thats what you meant. I'm glad someone else thought this before I did.
