What do you change in the .eng file to make the train go faster, and how do you get trains to collide head on. I just got MSTS recently.

You can start by downloading my replacement dash 9 .eng file at rusnakweb dot com/msts to make the Dash 9 faster. Other engines should have a variable called max_speed or max_velocity or something similar in their .eng file.

Also, you need to use the MSTS Activity Editor, under Program Files > Train Simulator Editor and Tools to make a new activity and then set it up so they crash.

I have created a new activity. However sometimes when I try to play it, I get a message that says "Activity ended, ignored red light."

I am assuming you want the trains to crash, right? In Activity Editor when you make the activity right click on the signal (red or grey dot) and select "toggle signal failed" or something similar to disable the signal. Otherwise use a more crash-friendly route like my Metro Route at rusnakweb dot com/msts

You need to use the MSTS Route Geometry Extractor and MSTS Route Editor in order to create your own route. You can launch these tools from All Programs > Microsoft Games > Train Simulator > Train Simulator Editors and Tools
