I would like to learn more. I Guided throughout the High Sierra's for years ,and now Moving to La Paz .. I have alot of float tubing experience ..But this is a whole other fish'n game..."That I want to get into !".. Please if you could send me any info on What,Where and How..You rig and what knots ...ect..Would be greatly appreciate it. Good Fishing to ya all..Might use that as a video even...Instructional and info get people ... Hell I'll throw my knowlage in for free to hook one like that..
@lifesaboar3 the only reason its possible is because the kayak is getting dragged arround so the tension is not that high, so he is literally reeling himself to the marlin once it gets tired out
@lifesaboar3 It's possible. We paddled out, hooked, landed, and paddled back in a 194# Pacific Blue Marlin using a Fin-Nor Spinning reel and a 7' Ugly Stik.
No... after almost 5 hours, we were running out of daylight. He had to really put the pressure on it, and the line broke. BUT... while Howard was fighting this one, Matt Moyer hooked and landed a 130 lb striped marlin in less than an hour. We'll be posting that soon.
That is simply awesome. I can only image what was running though your mind when that powerful creature was jumping 15ft in front of you. Kudos for the testicular fortitude. Happy fishing!
The only way you can explain kayak fishing is to do it. If you are keeping your fish{not releasing it for eating purposes} you should have a kayak with a compartment big enough to hold your fish{inside your kayak, compartment in front or center of your kayak, otherwise club it good if its too big to fit, and return to your launch site. Eat what you catch always, fish tacos are the best, and better shared with friends. Fish on and keep our sport alive by only catching what you will eat.
haha that's awesome. I like how you threw your feet back in the yack in fear of getting them speared by the marlin. that must have been awesome! i saw this posted on moldychum's site. tight lines!

did he have to paddle 20 miles?
frewcc 2 years ago
Nope... couldn't have done this without the power boats for support. The power boats were also important to have for safety reasons.

alexthe200 3 years ago
People fish from kayaks for soooo many reasons best advice would be try it out yourself.
TheHeliconiaPress 3 years ago
it gives you an adrenaline rush, it's harder, it's more affordable.
