Back when he faught kenpachi he didn't even have a bankai, and did you notice that kenpachi only used it when he was going to die, well was going to if he kept fighting the way he did. Ichigo didnt get kanpachi in that situation, if he faught him now with his hollow powers i think he would... Since he is at a captains level of power only with half of his spiritual pressure

Additionally, doesn't matter who's swords broke or not, the fight ended with both men on the ground bleeding...that is a draw, and if one wanted to be hyper-technical they could make the argument Kenpachi won because he was the last man standing. But again, in the end neither man came out of that fight like a victor

@tbonesam Obviously you were not paying as close attention to things as you think you were. Number 1, their swords did not make contact with one another in the final strike. Kenpachi's hit Ichigo's in the side torso, Ichigo's came down on Kenpachi's shoulder, and later when Ichigo is being treated by Yoruichi and she sees the mask is seen he states quite clearly that the mask took the hit, and thus saved his life. Hence the mask is what broke the sword....

You make a valid point about him trusting in Zangetsu since the hollow and Zangetsu are one in the same, (so to speak) but again as Ichigo himself said it was the appearance of the mask that saved his life when it took the brunt of Kenpachi's blow, (which would make the mask what broke Kenny's sword.)

Which doesn't change the fact that it would still be an admission of defeat if he only apologized to Zangetsu. Sorry dude, but both admitted defeat which is why the fight was a draw.
