in this and other videos you express the importance of pressing your toe but to me it just looks like your shifting your weight more onto the toe rather then actually using your calf to press your toe down like a dancer would do am i wrong or am i just an idiot .
Thanks so much for the very articulate and helpful instructions! I finally got it and was able to come down the mountain (in the Poconos) linking my turns. Yay! Your chairlift video also helped me to get off without falling. Thanks!
i have been a little confused lately, so i just went into a heelside turn, now i dont get it do i lean my front foot onto toes and keep my back foot up to start going into toeside? or do i lean both into toes?
@addictedtolax062397 When turning from heelside to toe side you need to flex your knees and ankles and drive your weight toward the nose of the board. I used to constantly catch a back edge when trying to link heelside to toeside because I was too upright and stiff. Keep your knees soft and be more dynamic in your transition through the turn.
Great advice! I just got linking my turns at then end of the last trip and I can say that all the information is very good, especially the leaning your shoulder down and leaning forward. Those 2 things are crucial. When making heel sided turns I had a tendency to flip all the way around and go goofy it was very annoying, you've got to not put as much weight on the right foot and lean forward and dip your shoulder if you want to make your turn.
Keeping out of the backseat made all the difference, I'm even dipping my shoulder forward a bit as shown in the video. I'm doing skidded turns down blues now. I still get freaked out by the speed, but going faster every run. Great tips, definitely helpful.
thanks for the great advice man!!! this is the first useful youtube video that addresses my tendencys and how to correct them. i look to improve even more this weekend when i go snowboarding. man it addicting once you get the hang of it! its just the steep hills that i gotta conquor this next trip! THANKS AGAIN
Nice vid, great tips. I definitely lean back when I'm trying to connect turns on steeper slopes, it's an automatic reaction when I start picking up speed, a LOT of speed as I come out of a turn and start pointing downhill. I do fine on gentle slopes because I'm not so intimidated. As you point out, that's clearly the reason I have a hard time connecting the turns, there's not enough weight on the nose. I'll definitely be working on that this weekend.
@ripside have the same problem, cause of speed i want to bring my weight to the back, automatic i guess, but not good, i will store this video, and watch it several times before i go back boarding
these videos are great! i tryed watching expert village but the guy just showed a video of him shredding and said like 3 words for 2min. he actuallly breaks it down for you
everytime i try to go from heel to toe, my board is parallel to the moutain and i go straight down, i try to toe stop but i cant move my board and when i hit a tiny little snow bump, i crash, any tips?
@eric11600 Your tensing too much. people normally pick up this bad habit when learning. Too turn try putting a little more weight on the front foot or pulling your front foot up more.
I can only do that on the easy runs. But I FREAK OUT doing that in Intermediate because of speek control... or lack of it!... So I'm gonna try your idea. Wish me luck!
AWOOOOO!!!! sorry just though it was the thing to do round these parts.
I definitely have trouble on my toeside edge even after massive jmps, rails, the works! I think you've finally solved my problem!! you are SO much better than the other instructional vids!
i sky well enough but always had a passion for snowboard..so i m gona start learning, this guy videos are great..if u dont like them go pay for lessons but don t throw garbage on him..and hs time ..nice man and thanks!
Grr.. I want to do this! I can do the falling leaf heel and toeside, but I haven't been able to figure out out to do turns yet. Going snowboarding in 10 days. Can't wait! :))
