The flame still burns indeed !. Great movie, and still totally in love with Karen. For those interested however, it`s in A [D,E, with an F#m thrown in]
Man, I LOVE this movie. It brings together all the popular mythology of 70's rock and gives it a coherency. Plus it's an awesome track - thanks, @pietwolff !
I have this on video and we recently gave our video player away or something like that so now i cant watch the video but i LOVE this song i even have it on my phone
This film holds more truths about rock music than most would like to believe. Don't get between a musician and his ego, especially if they have had a sniff of success.
hello peoples, i love this movie and it's music. what i would like to know though is what genra of rock would strange fruit be? eg: glam, metal, pop. i just really want to find more bands like these guys!
Written by Mick Jones of Foreigner -- that is why the song is fabulous!!!!! He is a really brilliant songwriter!!!!! (As well as one of the best rock guitarists -- ever).
how can a movie soundtrack be better than most of the records coming out in these days? isn't that weird? where are hidden the music geniuses of the 2000's? and a great and simple movie too....(3d don't mean nothing versus emotion)
I seldom refer to any male singer's voice as 'beautiful' (Some are 'great,' 'evocative,' 'pleasant,' 'powerful' ...all kinds of positive adjectives, but beautiful male voices are a rarity.)
Jimmy Nail has one of THE most beautiful voices I've ever heard.
Love the movie, love the song. Not a criticism - I think they meant it as a tribute - but this is 'Lost and Found' by The Kinks (1986). Search for 'kinks lost found'
@MojoIglesias what I mean is If Syd Barret would have come back like this, you know he did quit making music and never showed up on stage again... It's chiiling.
i may be a guy, i maybe 25 but every time i see Brian coming out on the stage i just cry my eyes out :) excellent movie i´d go as fas as saying it´s the best movie ever :)
to a certain extent, I share your feeling. some might say it's cheesiness, but it's just an almost -perfect ending. It has everything a movie like that should have. And it's realistic because similar things have happened. Plus it's not like they're the greatest band in the world, they're just what people needed at that time, perfect timing perfect song. gotta hand it to Mick Jones and Chris Difford.
@drater7890 You "may" be a guy?? Just kidding. Totally agree, I wish that a new version with more extras would come out with more extras. I own both the US version, & a region 2, and donated another US DVD to my local library. Cracked me up, at the Red Lion in Avebury(where the reunion luncheon was filmed), the staff had never heard of "Still Crazy".
I figure the film is loosely based on the trials and tribulations of Pink Floyd.
And in 2005 during the Live Aid Concert they reunited and "Pigs Flew;" Syd Barrett (still in a hospice during the concert) who was an original founding member died mere months later.
This is a brilliant moment in a great film, I also like the acoustic version young Brian plays at the beginning to Karen before giving her plectrum . Jimmy Nail was a pub rocker before he turned actor. I agree a very emotional piece in a good way. I stumbled across this movie on a flight to Japan in 2010 and had totally missed it's original release 12 years before - fate had a hand. Also I know Wisbech well and they don't have a rock festival but there is one at Fordham just like the one here.
@jockydoodledandy Agree 1000%. No movie except this one does that to me. Love when Brian shows up backstage and Connelly hands him the guitar...he hesitates and says..."ah, screw it...give it to me".
This IS one of my favorite movies - bcos of the songs!!
It has it all. And yes, I still bubble a alittle when they're trying to get Brian back to the band and he turns down. And yes, I still get goozebumps when he enter the stage playing the beautiful, beautiful solo and all around shows that he has been missed...
Thanks Piet for uploading this, i saw it today and laughed and cried in equal measure. I'm a 45 year old guitarist in a band and this film is so true to life. Great cast, great music, what more could you ask for. Once again, thanks
I love this movie and wish everyone could experience it. I love this song and wish I could find the movie version, although Jimmy Nails' solo is still great.
what a big memory from my past..."Dont you Dare..."
this song and film means so much to me, especially the song. reminds me of a father figure who gave me and my sister the tarck and he sadly passed away after but the song is very positive...:)
Discovered this movie about 6 years ago when I had a newborn and was up nights watching obscure tv channels! Fell in love with the movie and spent years trying to track a copy down. Finally got it - one of my favourite movies of all time, and this final scene gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Awesome song!!!
i have anxiety, and i want to be a musician. The anxiety kicks in when im in fornt of crowds and i fucking hate it.. im in high school and go to primary schools to perform, but when i step on stage i think about the "MOMENT" when Brian first comes out and i feel unstoppable.. i love this film..
This film turned me into a HUGE Jimmy Nail fan. Great...now I have to find ALL episodes of Auf Wiedersehen Pet on YouTube since it's not available here any other way. This could take decades.
Still though...have him washed and brought to my tent!
I love it! I love it! I love it!!! It reminds me of the time when I was younger and all the musicians around me... Love and Music and Passion! Great film!
This movie: the cast, the songs, all is so incredible! This video is fantastic! I just ordered the moview DVD and soundtrack CD to enjoy it regularly. Perfect cast!!! Jimmy Nail nailed it! :)
