by electricity produced every year ....

IT is larger than  Three Gorges Dam in CHINA ,

CHINA Thre Gorges Dam will have more capacity in 2012 ....

it was the largest for many years, until Three Gorges on China was built. But Itaipu still produces more energy.

And I am brazilian! But I do not believe in nationalism. Anyway, I heard Itaipu still produces more energy in the yearly total output, because the flow of the Paraná river is much more stable, thus Itaipu is always near maximum capacity, while the Three Gorges Dam has months with less river flow, resulting in a smaller total output in the end of the year. Can anyone check this fact?
