The gas bubbles reaching the surface are a mixture of methange gas and carcenogenic VOC's which enter the atmosphere. These will acumulate in clouds and precipatate in the rain.
Remember also that Henrey's law applies even at these tremendous pressure. The idea that bubbling any gas through a liquid will cause any other dissolved gaseous compounds in that liquid to come out of solution. As the methane hydrate sublimates, the natural gas bubbles released with then cause the dissolved VOC's in the oil to degas as well.
The most important part of this clip is the first 15 seconds. It shows oil seeping from a circular crack in the seabed. the seep is pulsating in a simlar fashon to the oil leak we have all seen being release from the riser. You can see where the methane hydrate has eroded from the area where the oil is seeping.
Rember the key factors. The water pressure at this depth is 40,000 psi for for oil to leak from the sea bed it has to be at a higher pressure. The seabed we are looking at is actually a salt dome two miles thick with layers of methane hydrate, not igneous rock. It is very fragile and easily fractured. The temperature of the oil is higher than that of hydrate so any transfer of heat will cause it to suplimate (go from solid to gaseous state), further destablizing the salt dome integrety.
@RainstormGB Sorry you are correct aprox. 157 atmospheres or 2200 pound per square inch. I had my unit conversion off. , But remember that the drilled well goes down 22,000 feet. Assuming that there is no temperature increases beneath the salt dome, the pressure at the well head would be 9666 pound per square inch . That's aprox 4:1 at the well head and 9666:1 at the surface which explains the gusher and the spectacular fire at the rig.

Yeah, it is a crack and it's not the propellers. Silt isn't brown to black. It's obviously seeping out of that crack before the ROV even moves, then it explodes from the crack. Not around it, not to the side of it, but exactly where it is. Silt is not brown or black and there is a distinct difference between the white cloudy poofs generated from the ROV's and the brownish black oil we've been seeing for months.

BP has admitted to cracks in their sub-sea well casing. So, I'd guess these puffs of oil originally escaped from the damaged well, traveled through sea-floor strata, and are emerging from seabed fissures.
Why not do sampling tests?
Less likely, these leaking hydrocarbon clouds may even be "reservoir leaks" migrating up through breached sea floor integrity, and not from the Macondo well.

There have always been natural oil seeps where oil works it's way to the surface. The fact that the flow in this footage is uneven would seem to indicate a natural seep. How close is this to the wellhead?

It has rare species of many life forms and some how it has isolated itself in a way
from the majority of the Gulf waters, now I suppose that has to die too? We need to hear from some non lying oceanographers! i live in northeast georgia 8 hours from the gulf.when theres hurricanes or tropical depressions we can smell the saltwater and fish in the air and rain.i have asthma and am extra sensitive to fumes-gas especially takes my breath.went all winter without being sick.been sick 2 times in 2 months.this time is worse,no voice for going on 3 days.we've had breezy days recently and some rain.i really think we are starting to get effects of it here and its only the beginning.

It's interesting that the asteroid impact that offed the dinos occured in the same area that may now off life in the seas & on land via toxic rain from the crud spewing fom the asteroid's void. The gas bubbles reaching the surface are a mixture of methange gas and carcenogenic VOC's which enter the atmosphere. These will acumulate in clouds and precipatate in the rain.

Remember also that Henrey's law applies even at these tremendous pressure. The idea that bubbling any gas through a liquid will cause any other dissolved gaseous compounds in that liquid to come out of solution. As the methane hydrate sublimates, the natural gas bubbles released with then cause the dissolved VOC's in the oil to degas as well.

The most important part of this clip is the first 15 seconds. It shows oil seeping from a circular crack in the seabed. the seep is pulsating in a simlar fashon to the oil leak we have all seen being release from the riser. You can see where the methane hydrate has eroded from the area where the oil is seeping.

Rember the key factors. The water pressure at this depth is 40,000 psi for for oil to leak from the sea bed it has to be at a higher pressure. The seabed we are looking at is actually a salt dome two miles thick with layers of methane hydrate, not igneous rock. It is very fragile and easily fractured. The temperature of the oil is higher than that of hydrate so any transfer of heat will cause it to suplimate (go from solid to gaseous state), further destablizing the salt dome integrety.

@RainstormGB Sorry you are correct aprox. 157 atmospheres or 2200 pound per square inch. I had my unit conversion off. , But remember that the drilled well goes down 22,000 feet. Assuming that there is no temperature increases beneath the salt dome, the pressure at the well head would be 9666 pound per square inch . That's aprox 4:1 at the well head and 9666:1 at the surface which explains the gusher and the spectacular fire at the rig.

It's not very convincing as it isn't continually flowing
