really just spray paint you should of dyed all the parts it wont chip

you shoulda got atleast an aluminum chasiss :) it maybe would bend on a crash like the one that caused this but atleast it would save your entire upper deck and lipo :)

2. Because its heavy.

3. Because the trucks is for bashing, not showing off on a shelf.

Some of the alloy available for the Rustler looks fantastic, but its not what I got the truck for...

Not sure about the 2 bodies, I think the crowd pleaser might be a bit more "sleek" looking , but I haven't had one myself so can't be sure.

The crash is in my other videos - and the chassis is stock, just dyed blue with penetrating vinyl dye ;-)

No - its not paint. Its a dye.

Its the stuff shown in the can in the video.

Its form Halfords - they call it "flexible vinyl paint".

about £10 a can, probably used about 1/3 of a can doing the whole car.

Simply clean the parts, then spray the stuff on and leave it for an hour or so. Job done.

The parts were bought from the local hobby store and from eBay.

I put the car back together myself - I'm not going to pay someone at the store to put some screws in :-)

Its not painted - Its dyed!

The stuff I used penetrates the plastic surface and changes the colour. Its not a coating that chips or scratches off.

The car still looks ok after 12 months. There are some deep scratches on the underside from rocks, but apart from that, its fine ;-)

dude if it cost you $175 you could have bought a stock xl-5 and just put all those peices that you needed onto your vxl + have some brushed electronics left over =). just a thought

Yeah, you are probably right... but a stock xl-5 wouldn't have the upgraded RPM parts or the custome dye plastics or teh custome shell ;-)

i know what it feels like to wreck a rustler vxl really bad. i just completely totaled the front. new shocks, rpm bumper and a arms, hub carriers, new bulkhead also.

luckily only cost me around $55. how much did yours cost to fix?

Good job on the rebuild, the blue looks quite nice on the chassis should be running a mamba max 5700 with 11.1 lipo on my 'pede soon.

Just Google "vinyl dye" and you'll find places to get the stuff. Its also used by PC case modders to colour disc drives and cases.

The blue chassis?? - its a dye, so doesn't flake off.

Google "penetrating vinyl dye" and you'll find the stuff.

It doesn't flake or wear off, its a penetrating dye, it actually dyes the plastic, not a surface covering like an ordinary paint.

lol thats way too slow to be powered by a lipo thats seems like the speed of a 3600mAh 7.5 volt battery couse i hav a rustler vxl and i have and 11000mAh 11.1 volt battery from max amps i got from my magazine

The Rustler in the video does have a LiPo battery - it is a 3 cell 11.1V 3600mAH unit.
