  • great review...im a HUGE fan of the Savini remake the entire mood and look of the movie is awesome...i realy dont have a single bad thing to say about it :D Savini realy captured the survival horror perfectly and the effects are killer.

  • Actually, Ben was the cause of them all dying. The noise of the hammering attracted all the Zombies to the house. The basement was actually safe as shown by the fact that they didn't break through the door all night. The gas keys were also in the basement. If everyone had listened to Cooper they all would have been rescued the next morning, or at least found the gas keys. The only problem would have been Cooper's kid but at least they would have all been there to deal with that.

  • This movie is awesome and even if it was complete garbage it would be worth watching just for Patricia Tallman!

  • LOVE this movie! I would probably still call the original a better film, but as far as enjoying them, I think I enjoy them probably about equally.

  • Would you say the same about the remakes to Little Shop of Horrors, Cat People, The Blob, The Thing, The Fly, The Crazies, Dawn of the Dead, Hills Have Eyes, Last House on The Left, Toolbox Murders, 2001 Maniacs, etc.? but not stuff like When a Stranger Calls, Black Xmas or Psycho rigth?

  • I haven't seen the original Little Shop in forever, but I probably like the remake better because of the great musical aspect. I am not sure if I've seen the original Hills Have eyes and haven't seen any of Toolbox Murders or 2001 Maniacs. I don't remember the original When a Stranger Calls well, but I somewhat liked the remake (at the very least, loved the ladies, ha). I own it on DVD, but I'd need to rewatch it to refresh my memory. I remember Black Christmas remake being BORING....

  • Black Xmas was completely uncessecary but i liked it as a guilty pleasure. But do you believe both Psycho and Halloween were unnecessary including Texas Chainsaw? all three movies are sacred but Psycho and Halloween are biblical movies as in masterpieces, remaking those is like trying to mess with the bible. If it wasn't broke don't fix it.

But were the remakes of The Thing, The Fly, Cat People, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Blob, Litlte Shop etc. done for money or people who cared?

  • I think all movies are partially done for money if there's any chance of making any at all, but even on those, there are people who care about making something good, and in some cases, those people have the power over how it turns out, and in some cases it's the money people who hold more decision making power... So, I try not to say this movie or that movie was just made for money. I think it's usually a mix, unless it is some no-budget thing that is just made for fun and unlikely to profit.

  • Yes, the Psycho, Halloween, and Texas Chainsaw remakes were unnecessary, though I am not against remakes, but they didn't improve on the originals at all. Texas Chainsaw I thought was boring compared to the original (the prequel was pretty good though), and Halloween would have been okay if they had just made it an original film and not a remake, because it wasn't Michael Myers to me. I didn't like that backstory for him. The Psycho remake, to me, was like seeing a play again with a diff cast.

  • Now Cape Fear, have you seen that one? great example of a horror thriller remake from producer Spielberg and director Martin Scorceses made a 1960 B&W movie into solid gold. What did you think of The Crazies so far?

Looking forward to Elm Street? did you see the new trailer and poster?

  • I see what you mean on Halloween, i guess the white trash background story killed it right? but it was still and enjoyable remake. Psycho is true like you said of seeing a play again with a different cast and in color with the same stuff instead of doing it different like The Thing and The Fly, but Hitchcock's Psycho is still a classic that still entertains people of all ages. Vince Vaughn was miscast as Norman Bates and was wrong for the role.

  • @slave2moonlight Remakes rule!! XD better then the original

  • ... the Prom Night remake was totally terrible, by the way. But, anyway, yeah, I actually get some enjoyment out of the Psycho remake because I find Vince Vaughn (sp?) entertaining in everything. Pointless, yes, but it's only terrible for that reason. As for the good ones you mentioned that I have seen, yeah, all those are as good or better than the originals.

  • Very good remake but i prefer the original, i mean if it ain't broke don't fix it. Now Dawn of the Dead 2004 was a better remake cause it did something different.

  • I just finished watching, and think the movie was pretty lame, but patricia tallman, jummie!

  • Romero and Savini how can you go wrong! awsome movie great review 2. 5 stars RyHo!

  • .....survival of the dead...anyway

  • nice review, i love this movie all the characters were great especially the guy who played cooper.

  • The guy who played Cooper, Tom Towles, is awesome in this movie, but yeah, there's a lot of great actors.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • I unfortunately have not watched this before ryho . Next time I am in the big city or sometime befoer halloween I will have to see this.

5 stars for being such an artist/craftsman!

  • I have many a zombie film that we can enjoy, friend.

  • Well, as a fan of Zombie flicks (Romero in particular) i'm disappointed that this movie STILL isn't on Blu-Ray. Yet right now as i type this, im recording the movie in beautiful HD to my sky box, without any commercial/advert breaks... can't believe theres an HD master, being broadcast (and if its being shown in the UK, America must've had it already) and STILL nobody has it uploaded in 720p online :( if someone finds a miracle way to capture from sky HD box to pc, lemmy know and i'll make a BD

  • *sorry, it cut me short* that was supposed to say "I'll make a Blu-Ray to share" to add to the torture of not knowing how to get it to my PC without losing quality, it's just finished, and i can confirm, there was no advert breaks at all, the end credits played entirely without any voiceovers ("comming next tonight" etc) and the quality is beautiful, nice crisp sharp images, and retains original reel grain for that cinematic feel :) Best i've ever seen it ^^

  • That's amazing! Oddly enough, Romero's stuff generally sees better releases in the UK. The best release of Creepshow is only in the UK, as well as a few other special editions, I do believe.

  • Welcome back amigo! Dude, this worked out nicely, you put up your review of Night 90' the same day I put up the awful Night 3-D! Great idea for reviews dude, Zombies rule! I always liked Night 90' I need to get it on dvd, still rockin' a vhs!?hahaha I think it was a good collab between romero and savini. I really liked the zombie make ups in that one. Tony Todd rules in that one. Glad to see you back on the review scene dude, 5 stars! Rock on Ryho! (did you get your poster up?haha)

  • It's definitely one of my faves. I even have a hard time thinking of it as a remake just because of the negative connotation on the word!

As for the poster, I attempted and I think I failed, haha. Technically, however, it is up. I'll give you a gander once I've got it all figured out.

  • goooo zombies! and viva la fiveorama!

  • Jyeaaaaahh booyeeeeeee!!!

  • I actually liked this one. I remember the one girl in the original was basically comatose and wouldn't do shit. I liked how the remake made her actually helping out and doing shit.

  • Yeah, and made her a badass with a gun. That's always a better choice!

  • nice review . zombie movies own and great to see you back

  • Thanks, appreciate it!

  • awesome movie/review good to see you back

  • Thanks, brother!

  • Who are you ? I may be wearing glasses like the real RyHo and not express myseIf perfectly in english, but i'm no fool! (like Mr T would say) Please understand Mr Impostorman that being in school means spending so much time studying and being surrounded by many young women (like this movie, the "mid-twenties" life crisis is very underrated) So respect RyHo's absence for now. Nevertheless, If this was the real RyHo, i would admit that i'm among the many who overlooked to this day this movie.

  • I've taken over RyHo's skin!

  • Good review and movie man. It's not only one of my favorite Zombie flicks, but its also one of my favorite horror remakes.

  • Yeah, I actually forget its a remake sometimes because I like it so much.

  • great review dude good to c u back, lookin forward to seein more zombie reviews

  • Thanks, man! There should be one a week if everything goes to plan.

  • Cool review man, I always did enjoy the 1990 version. I liked Tony Todd's performance and I did like that Barbara was stronger. Welcome back Ryho.

  • Thanks brother, appreciate it!

  • the return of ryho awsome

  • Thanks, man!

  • NOTLD '90 is really an underrated movie.

  • Big time!
