  • The sequel to Diamond Star is coming out in October, 2012. The vocal version of this song plays a big role in the book. If you'd like to read an advance preview, the uncorrected proofs are available at the Baen/Simon&Schuster web site (click on the ad above).

As an special bonus, you can also listen to the full version of this song with the spectacular vocals by Michael Belinkie.

  • This is beginning to sound like obsessive overkill but, oh, well, let me explain myself. I wasn't trying to sound like I thought I was the greatest reader alive. Actually I was hiding a complaint, not being able to find other people who love to read as much as I do. My husband doesn't. My kids (in their 40s) like to but don't have the time. My grandkids (teens) have very little interest. I'd like to change book names with people by email, what books& writers are good& what others like to read.

Finally I found the original comments section & I DID say more than ALMOST anyone alive--a little qualifier there, u do see it, don't u? And, as I said, 1 does have 2 have the time & if 1 works 1 doesn't have the time. It also helps to be old. How old r u? Also, have u read any of Asaro's books? & do u really truly think there r a lot of people around who've read that much? I'd gladly pray to god that u'd b right. I'd love to b wrong on this one. It's my fondest wish.

  • I reread your comment again. I guess u r disputing with me who's read the most. I'm not sure how many I've read but I think the only way anyone is likely to have read more than me is if they're childless, fairly old (like me) & have never worked (at an outside job) because frankly it's very difficult to get much of anything done when u read as much as I do. It's taken me THIS LONG to finally get my housework under control--because I'd rather be reading!

  • I hope you received the 1st part of my answer, regarding me being about 66 yrs old, reading sci-fi since I was 9 (yes, sci-fi was around then). R we having a dispute here? I have many other authors whose works I also collect. Do u watch Monk? Well, I read the way he obsesses. I am never without a book. In the line at grocery stores I have a book--just in case. I have around 400 books I haven't even read yet. I just keep buying them. Actually I haven't counted them in about 4 yrs.

  • I'm not sure what it is my original comment was. Something about the number of books I own or have read? I presently own only 2000 or so sci-fi (lost many along the way) but have definitely read thousands more than that. How can I not have? I'm almost 66 yrs old & have been reading obsessively since the age of 9. Do the math. I do have many other authors I love also. Asaro is my favorite because she's the best at the 'great, spine-tingly' moments. to be cont.

  • I agree with 'dreaming wolf'. Many of them don't look how I imagined either, but who really cares? The music is great & the book was wonderful! I read it & then 2 weeks later decided to reread it. Now I'm rereading the entire series (all of which I have, of course) & I've decided Asaro is my favorite author. I read more than almost anyone alive so that gives me a lot of authors to choose from but she is the best! She is at her very best on the 'big' goosebumpy moments.

  • Based on the books I've owned and read (not counting ones taken from the library or ones sold) I've read over 10,000 books so I'll contend your more than anyone alive and I know darn good and well there are people out there who have read more than I have.

And btw - this is the first time I've heard of Catherine Asaro. I don't have any single favorite writer, I like many.

  • in answer to your question Do these pictures look like how I imagined the characters? mmm...not all of them. Probably because I'm over 50 :) But Chanice, Soz, Kurj, and Jarbriol III are close to what I imagined.

Loved the book, by the way. Finished it last night and now I can't concentrate on the Monday day-job 'cause your stories are better than real life --LOL
