Screaming Hamster

just a tip, when i cleaned out my first hamster i used to take the bars out and try to stop him escaping out the sides, then one day he got out and got lost in the kitchen cupboards, we saved him, and he lived for another year or so. after that incident though, we just ut him in his ball while we cleaned him out. it works a treat, it keeps them out of the way and it gives them excersise.

I remember when we had a hamster we used to put him in a box when we cleaned his cage. If the sides weren't high enough he would try to get out and did a couple of times. We'd go into panic mode looking for him only to find him hiding out under the sofa. Yeah, the little guys will attempt a break out any chance they get. :)

haha my hamster does this/sounds like that! i put him in a hamster carrier and he does not like it. he gets into hysteric and hes sounds like a crying baby..soon as in his cage he stops and acts like nothing happened with the odd grunt at me o.o Plus shes not doing anything wrong. he was only in it a small time..

Hi, an animal expert here. This hamster is fine and that noise is quite normal. Some tend to make it when frightened or frustrated. And being the hamster is only in this cup for a short period of time, she's not doing anything wrong.

I had a hamster do this to me one time while I was trying to clean her with a damp cloth. As I did not ever expect any decibel of sound to roar out of her tiny little body, I was fairly frightened!

I would be scared f i was in somthing so small and couldn't get out. People would panic so why wouldn't a hamster? So what if your not hitting it. Your making it panic and stress out which is very easy to make em get wet tail and then they WILL be realy suffering wont they? You knew it was upset, panicing but you thought it was funny. And you caused it. So its animal abuse. To me anyway.

I'm not trying to be rude, but your hamster wasn't angry. Hamsters make that noise when they want out of something. My hammy used to do that when he wanted me to pick him up and hold him. :)

Good god she's not hurting the little thing. I used to put my hamster in a container like that when I cleaned his cage. Apparently I abused my amazing hamster...assholes.

My hamster Sparky used to scream like this a lot! He had a very short temper and was very vocal, which often led to him screaming for no apparent reason. RIP Sparky, you crazy devil.
