Not a very good review. All the reviews on these smart phones don't really review the PHONE they just focus on the internet and apps. The way the phone handles contacts, phone calls, text messaging, etc. is much more important than internet and apps, and should always be reviewed first.

dude, get rid of the bb.. ive had bb curve for about 3months now and i feel like ive been cursed. the only good think about bb is the instant chat.. the apps suck and look budget and even the decent crappy ones are expensive for what they are, maps is slow and as usless as a chocolate teapot, internet's slow, no good games, facebook's slow.. i could go on lol. im exchanging it for the magic, seems so much better.

BB is a nice phone. Considering it is a world phone, keep it for a while. Just a warning about HTC, depending on the carrier you have, they ususally dont give updates on their phones. They also have so so build quality.

The iPhone has more apps than Google and google is still doing well... if Microsoft can pull off a good OS with a much needed new GUI and improved compatibility, simplicity and synchronization. I'm pretty sure they'll be fine. Would be nice if we got it sooner rather than later though, the longer they leave it the harder they are going to find it getting a decent market share.

These are the ones that you can find in the "Market " on an Android phone (many are free and the payd ones are very cheap and often have a free trial/demo)

You might want to get the newer HTC Hero, but I didnt think it was worth the extra money compared to the HTC Magic (camera is better, but hardware is almost identical)

I even got the same software (a ROM) on my Magic as on the Hero :D

The ONLY apps in Canada are the free ones, Paid ones are coming too but for now EVERYTHING you see in the Andriod Market on a Canadian HTC Magic or HTC Dream (G1 phone/google phone etc) are free

Since the Android OS is pretty new, you would obviously not expect TONS of games and apps available right from the bat (just like iPhone), there are a lot of excellent apps that already came out for the phone though, google search it theres an excellent page.

I am going to have to agree with AIDS on this one. The iPhone is the better choice if you have the option. For those of us who do not, this is the best thing I have seen that can compare. If you are patient you might want to look into HTC's Hero, supposedly arriving soon. That might just outdo iPhone from what I have seen.

I just got this phone this morning, have to say if you have a G1 then stick with it! The ROM in this phone is exactly the same. The only obvious difference is the touch screen keypad which is way to small unless you turn it on it's side and then it still isn't perfect.

i just see this phone as a cheaper alternative to the i-phone and i don't really see that as a bad thing to be honest! Most of the apps you get for the i-phone are slowly creeping on to the HTC Magic which means you can access your e-mails, social networking sites and various other web pages at the touch of a button. Only down side i really see after having the phone a few days is the battery life is really poor and i have to charge it every day.

The Magic is better because the Iphone may have alot of G like 8G and 16G but there is no removable memory the battery can not be changed you mess up your battery you cant exchange the phone back so ur stuck with a broken phone unlike this phone it has a removable battery and you can choose to buy Memory cards i have this phone i bought a 16G memory card for 80$ and now my HTC has 16G like an iphone does and has everything like the iphone.

Seems like a slight upgrade of the G1 phone, without the wqwertststkwatw keyboard. Which I think they should have found a way to keep that on the phone and not have it bulky.. But IMO, I don't think a lot of G1 users would be so quick to upgrade to this phone, unless they had the luxury to do so. I would stick with my g1 for a while until prices drop.

it depends...if you use many google products(gmail,calendar,talk,e­tc.) then this is for you and the android OS looks good IMO. but the env touch has the physical keyboard and the 3.5mm headset jack but no wi-fi.

The iPhone is a copy of the Pocket PC/Windows Mobile phones circa 2002, years BEFORE the iPhone. I know you just jumped on the 'Crapple' bandwagon like the other mindless zombies who want to be seen as 'special' but these are the facts. How is the screen viewing outside in the sun? I've seen or used HTC phones before and I can barely see the screen. Also, I haven't heard much about the call quality. How is that?

I believe this phone has the same type of screen as the G1, and my G1 is difficult to see in the sun unless the brightness is at 100%. If you want a phone with a good screen, look for phones with AMOLED. It's screen has a bright, easy to see display. It saves energy too, which is great. The upcoming Android phone called the Samsung I7500 has an AMOLED screen, just to let you know. The call quality should be good, but I don't have this phone so I can't say for sure.
