I have Samurai Spirits (Shodown) I, II and III on the Neo Geo... and this game is definitely NOT Samurai Shodown. It's either IV or V. (apparently V).

Wow Hanzo and Ukyo finishers were the best.

This game was sooo different and cool, in a game genre where it`s SO hard to be original.

Yashitora has a great resemblence to a ruroni kenshin character, the guy with lots of katanas.

I'm a Street Fighter nut but, whenever I hear this music (Samurai Shodown) I have to stop and play. The characters are beautifully designed and Amakusa is a boss character guaranteed to make you pull your hair out until you beat his skinny ass.

This game is Samurai Spirits Zero Special (in Japan) or Samurai Shodown V Special (outside of Japan).

It has fatalities... but they only happen the way it's shown here in the Japanese version, unless you get a hacked game (I don't know if such a thing exists) or hack it yourself.

No, this is not Samurai Shodown 1 (only the music is from this game). This video is actually from Samurai Spirits Zero Special (in Japan), which is also known as Samurai Shodown V Special (outside of Japan). This game plays a lot like Samurai Shodown V, but it has many characters from previous games (including all 4 bosses), some new characters and it features fatalities in the Japanese version.

God this music is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the super nintendo soundtrack! I'm going to download this right now to replace my SNES mp3s. Omg, I also was a master of the original one, but never played the sequels. I MUST download the later games, they look so fucking awesome. Best old school j-soundtrack, goemon series comes close, but samurai showdown... too awesome!

I'm not sure this is the 1993 Samurai Shodown. It has a higher character count and looks considerably better than Samurai Shodown II (which just came out on XBLA btw, nice timing!).

Yeah, I don't know which one it is, but it isn't the original game. I just got lazy sifting through a bajillion videos and stopped when I saw samurai gutting each other. The tunes are from the first game though.
