First off usher rendition was good. For those that commented on the origin of the song; true it was originally sung by the Carpenters, but it will always be a staple song for L.V. because of the way in which he performed and produced the song. The instrumentation and presentation he put fourth will always be unequaled in comparison to any other performer. STILL S.O. to the Carpenters!

I was so disappointed with BET they did not even do a tribute for Luther Vandross after his death. How the HELL can you not do a remembrance for Luther? I have to give usher props to sing this song it is not easy. U have to sing and although Usher is not as strong vocally as Luther he did an outstanding job. Kudos to Oprah for remembering Luther Vandross the Prince of R&B.

I agree with others who have tried to remind you people that trying to turn a tribute into a competition defeats the whole spirit of the thing. If Luther's talent was so easy to duplicate, why would artists want to honor him in the first place? Some people just can't prop up one person without shooting down another. It's pretty sad.

Luther is a Baritone with a huge range. Usher is a tenor with an impressive range. They're both completely different vocalists. I think he did the song well. Usher's voice isn't really meant for sultry , but he uses it to great effect anyway. He is light and whispy where as luther is strong and heavy. Haters gon' hate.

How in the world can any true connoisseur of music have anything negative to say about Ushers rendition of this song?? He did what every GREAT singer is supposed to do..rather than try to copy Luther..Usher added his own flavor to the song! The Boii can sing ...Every true singer can take ANY song and rather than trying to Fit the song, They make the song fit them! It is never going to sound "Like the original" ...It's not supposed to~SMH @ HATERS~

I agree with others who have tried to remind you people that trying to turn a tribute into a competition defeats the whole spirit of the thing. If Luther's talent was so easy to duplicate, why would artists want to honor him in the first place? Some people just can't prop up one person without shooting down another. It's pretty sad.

Luther is a Baritone with a huge range. Usher is a tenor with an impressive range. They're both completely different vocalists. I think he did the song well. Usher's voice isn't really meant for sultry , but he uses it to great effect anyway. He is light and whispy where as luther is strong and heavy. Haters gon' hate.
