If only they had a sense of group and individual intonation. How do you get to be as well known as the VSQ without solid basic chamber technique? Their performances lack the attention to detail (intonation, phrasing, articulation, ect.) that really takes string 4tet music from sounding like high-school kids to sounding like professionals. They're just making an easy buck by counting on the fact that people will not know what they are listening to and turning out song upon song of mediocrity.

@stringkat as much as i value your opinion, i believe it is somewhat misguided.

They may not be the perfect quartet you wish to hear, but they are fabulous at 'turning out song upon song' for these are the sort of songs that i truly hoped would be covered by strong quartets. And they have. So unless you want to gather some elite professionals together and get them to play all of these wonderful songs, do not completely decimate Vitamin's popularity.
