@IlluminationEye u are correct. its a symbol in Nigeria denoting the cycles, seasons of the solar/calendar days. im wearing my swastika neckalce from west africa right now! check out my video!
In the Vedas, India's most ancient scriptures, the swastika is called "the sun's wheel" and is associated with astrological ritual and flourishing cosmic periods. The Vayu Purana describes the sign of a swastika on the hoods of mythological serpents. It is used as a tilaka or bindu [brow spot] and is marked on the shaven heads of those dedicated to Ganesha. It also features in the worship of Lakshmi, goddess of plenty.
google it and you will find an abundance of sourches. swastika comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix.
@snowleopard772 ummmm i think you miss the point of the question. and as you see he answered it very politely OVER A YEAR AGO. youre a little late there buddy.
its very simple and its meaning is encoded in its name. . In any case, the root of the word swastika is , "swastha" . Swastha has various meanings all related to good health, peace and blessing etc. Its even used in may hindu mantras. eg. 'swastina indro vrudha shravaha , swastina pusha vishwadevaha , etc.
We do do sunworship but that is a different unrelated matter.
pl do not related solar cross etc with swastik. They are two different symbols , swastic is (C) vedic-hindu symbol.
