you know I bought this motherfucker years ago fuck I don't know when 2003 2005 I can't remember but I can't figure out why every single entire fucking scene in this Best Buy bot dvd is unrecognizable except for the fucking ice cream truck.
these old movies are GREAT (stories, actor performances, music, ...) compared to today's movies with a lot of money spent but poor quality (AVATAR to name one !!)
How can I get this on dvd? im 33 yrs old & this is one of my favs hands down!! To terrorize a police station? These guys didnt have a care or worry at all a must see!! want my girlfriend to check it out.
Everything about this film just oozes coolness and vibe. This shot over the dashboard is only one example of how Carpenter can say so much with a (seemingly) simple shot. You really get the sense that these 4 creeps are about to unleash hell on Earth! And it's all being done without dialog. Just 4 good actors and a director that know how to create a mood. Today's remake-happy Hollywood knows nothing about cool or atmosphere. Giant budgets and big stars can't save a shit film made by hacks.
The white gangbanger who gets killed first is Frank Doubleday who was also one of Issac Hayes psycho's in Escape From New York (he had the new wave hair and I think Harry Dean Stanton stabs him) and he was a great acting caoch in LA a few years back.
the original was the best by far. it is so difficult to improve on a film that is as much a classic in every aspect of film making as is 'Assault on Precinct 13'. i saw this when it came out in '76. kudos.
these guys don't need to talk about amsterdam and what they call a big mac there.....they mean business

The greatest movie of Carpenter, based on real facts. Franck is terrible as the sniper !!!

Somehow, in my mind, this is one of the best scenes in movie history.

I love this scene. So memorable considering it's just a clip of some guys tooling up in a car.
The fact that one of the guys looks like Guevara just adds to the awesomeness.

Simple but so effective ..brilliant film making ...thats John Carpenter for you.
Doesn't need a 100 Million movie budget unlike directors these days.
