That said, I want to let you know that I take offense when people of faith say "I feel sorry for you..." or something similar simply because I don't share their faith. It's condescending. I don't feel that I need pity. I know your opinions and respect them, so please respect mine.
A similar parallel would be an atheist or agnostic saying something like "I pity you for being such a naive and irrational. You waste your time praying and searching for God." (no, that is not something I have ever said or ever will say.)
