  • Was it considered that time is the 4th dimension as is widely acknowledged?

  • why do they always have to be idiots from india?

  • Thank you our professor this is wonderful.با درود ، در برنامه استاد مشیری (۱۸-۳-۲۰۱۱)پرفسور به فارسی توضیح میدهد.

  • I truely love this lecture.

    Thanks heaps

  • I was looking for some bullshit lecture about some pseudoscience and shit and instead I got this! It made me think! Starting with the damn parabola, how the hell are you supposed to add meters squared to meters and to 1 without units???!!! God damn it I'm disappointed, this turned out to be an actually serious lecture with no bullshit! And an interesting one as well! :((( My morning is ruined...

  • One dimension...two dimension...three dimension...four.

  • Physics, Metaphysics, Big Bang and God

The action, when the God compressed all

Universe into his palm, physicists had named -a singular point

And action, when the God opened his palm,

physicists had named - the Big Bang

  • @socratus1 It does not prove no disprove a god. You see that before the big bang we still hade matter energy it thus changed shaped it did not create matter energy so we still hade something in a singular point of the material world. The big bang as such should be seen as an expansion of space time. So is there a proof ofa god ? No there is no proof it is a matter of belife and keep it out of science where peoples subjective feelings should not interfee with the scientific method.

  • where is he originally from?

  • @arya1357

    He's Iranian

  • wow! I thought this whole same concept up in the 90's and told it to my Astronomy professor but he dismissed it. Now Im glad to see it is real!

  • very nice video, but im just confused about what the lecturer meant when he says the single dimension can only be curved into the next dimension @ 24:15, he curves the line upwards but it still remains a flat line, with only a length, it has no width.

  • its simple,if you hold a paper and try to bend it,you

will see that it has bended from its third dimension, basically a tow dimension world cant be real unless it has a higher dimension, like that paper it must have some hight other wise it cant exist nor in first dimension that line to really exist it must have some width and that's where they bend as well

  • @aydemirbeslenay

it still has length, but the fact that it was bent gave it height (or width depending on the way you bend it) a straight line has only length, but in order to bend it, you need to use another dimension to do that. hence his thesis

  • This video made a lot of sense

  • Thank you so much for this! Good channel!

  • Ah, the channel isn't that good. :] But some videos like this are!

  • wow i just realized that if thought isnt material and doesnt have weight and also that if professor morteza is correct (which he obviously is), than theoretically our mind and our thoughts can transcend our three dimensional world and enter the fourth dimension. believe me, i know it isnt as easy as it sounds, and while i believe anything is possible i am stumped on how one could achieve this. one idea i have is that if we were more evolved, intelligent beings than we would be able to do this.

  • wremostafa

a 3d man can only walk on a 2d surface of another 3d object. To cover a 3d object he must trek all dimentions of the object at once... 4th D = TIME possible to walk all sides at once.. BOOM this joint made me smart yo

  • You're just an awesome professor!

  • i know him!

  • The ideas presented have pointed my thoughs in directions I would not have considered on my own. It matters not how much of the maths or physics I really understand. The lecture makes us think how insignificant we humans are. I think the Prof's aim is to get us to look beyond our own not so important existences and to look to something altogether greater. He is trying to inspire us rather than to teach us physics. The maths and physics are just tools; a means to an end. Thank you Morteza.

  • There is one flaw in this imagination. When it is said that a 1D element is bending in the 2nd direction, but really a 1D element is a 2D element and it is bending its own 2nd direction. Similarly a true 2D plane is not possible because of thickness. So a 2D plane is not bending; actually a thin 3D plane is bending in its own third direction. So our 3D space can bend its own 3rd direction. We don't need 4th direction to have a curve or expanding space.

  • Moreover, a 3D object can exist within a 3D object; like a small ball can stay within a 3D balloon. A 3D man can walk on a surface of 3D earth. So the arguments for the 4th dimension are not right. Moreover, to exist a 4th dimension, by his own argument, we need 5th dimension and so on. You will end up with infinite dimension which I think our professor even can't imagine. Scientists are not limited minded. It is them for who you are talking about the big bang.

  • there is a infinite space, why cant there be a infinite dimension?

  • thought the same. If there is a 4th dimension there has to be a 5th on wich the 4th is placed, so there has to be a 6th dimension and on and on.

  • Rhetorical question

  • 2freet: Yes there are other dimensions which are very similar to what many philosophers such as Aristotle know them as other universes or worlds. That's why prophets also beleive in many other worlds which lead us closer to god, in fact we can not reach god and travel this metaphysical distance at once, but our soul takes the next steps.

  • @2freet

No it doesn't need to,because in first, second and third you talk about mater but after third dimension there would no mater so you cant use the same method witch he used to explain the other dimensions

  • are u from cov?

  • Using this logic; implying a third dimension requires a fourth to exist(or any plane), also implies the fourth then requires a fifth - and when extrapolated, any dimension then requires infinite dimensions to exist.

    "To infinity and below!" :)

  • You are completely correct. A philosophical conclusion (assuming that the extrapolation is valid) would then be that everything is relative, including the existence itself, with each existence being an existence when compared with the lower dimensions and becoming a non-existence when it is compared with the higher dimensional existences. A religious conclusion can be that there are no absolute existences except the Absolute (whatever that Absolute may be). Do I make sense, I don't know!!

  • this was absolutly amazing!!!!

    finally this all makes sence

    thank you!

  • lol 1 second im watching spore glitches now im watching the big bang XD!

  • Absolute brilliance!

  • why the hell does cov uni not have a proper physics department?

  • our courses that involve physics tend to have a focus on the application of the physical sciences in the real world. so we have a number of courses from aerospace to engineering that involve physics.

  • Fantastic. You have the very wonderful gift of being able to explain the complicated so that even people like me can understand it.

    Thank you.

  • This is excellent! I enjoyed the talk even more the second time.
