Gene Harris was always an under appreciated artist even when while with the Three Sounds. I have had this compilation CD and it made me go get some of his jazz records. This is soul-jazz at its very best!
@jazzygc Totally agree about Gene Harris! He and his musicians have created a sadly neglected bunch of awesome tracks, and this version of "As" is 7.39 of true musical joy and brilliance!
it was impossible to sing this song after stevie's version : BUT HE DID IT !!!! BIG RESPECT...(when i remember the shame of goerge michael version !!!)
Is that Gene on vocals??? If so, I had no clue he could sing like that! Either way, a truly gifted and talented man who's music has blessed those who listen to it.
@clubland459 No problem. He's really a good singer, he also did a version of "Your Love is My Ecstasy" with Norman Connors. He's also got a nice album called "Peaceful" from 1978 as well as a lot of other work.

Very good, but I think George Michael and Mary J. Blige didn´t do a bad job either.

@sc2man13 Nah, that's not Gene, it's Al Johnson on vocals.
