"Hello up there on the balcony. See, this time you're the ones with the view." I'd love to have been on that balcony, or even better...one of the people helping him change his clothes.
@icbutts66 Except for the fact that he is playing Peter Allen, who wrote, among many other songs: Don't Cry Out Loud." " I Honestly Love You, and "I Go To Rio."
I think for Hugh getting his MANLY MAN cred as Wolverine while het married was needed before he could show off his real passion for show and dance. In this day and age the prejudice against straight men enjoying stage and dance is sad.
fuck there goes my hero Wolverine down the drain :-p I waited over 4 minutes and no claws :-p he's quite the entertainer. Funny that most people like Me know him as wolverine
I've seen clips from Todd McKenny & Hugh Jackman. Their styles are different. Both are good. Broadway wanted something that did not make the sexuality quite as blatant as McKenny's version. In the USA we're really not as accepting of homosexuality YET. I'm hoping McKenny's version will hit Broadway soon. Hugh just wins over the audience with his charisma and charm. McKenny probably is true to Allen's flamboyant style; Jackman channels the Allen who was sexy to both sexes.

@jdanton Well, if it wasn't for Hugh/Broadway, I would not have come to appreciate Peter as much as I did. When Hugh left the show for "vacation" no one took his place and the show "closed." I'm truly sorry that the "powers to be" didn't realize that Todd Mckenny was so much better than Hugh - the show could have gone on and on - too bad you didn't call this to the producers of the Broadway show.
Hugh missed the boat...He plays Peter like Ethyl Merman -- Peter was not a belter.
And I was there for the VIP only opening night on B'way in Oct. 2003. I was happy to be there to see my friend honored, but Jackman fell short, but was supported by the press, who never supported Peter -- odd eh?
This is so intense!!! About as close as I'd wager I'm ever gonna get to seeing the show live. Jackman is a true talent. A sexy, Australian talent. Thanks for posting.
My brother works in the film industry and does publicity interviews for movie trailers. He got the opportunity to talk with Hugh Jackman at considerable length on several occasions. My brother also happens to have an adult son who has an IQ in the 175 range, super-genius; Stephen-hawking type math skills plus a law-degree, invited into government-sponsored think-tanks, etc. My brother tells me that Hugh Jackman is the only person he's ever talked to that is as intelligent as his own son.
He is a great actor...bet he took ballet when he was a kid, look at the way he dances. And sings really well too. Look at him in the London National Theatre production of Oklahoma.. the best Curly ever..Then his current reincarnation in rally macho buffed parts.. amazing.
So he's just married with a woman, just ti make a heterosexual facade? That's stupid... He's not gay...
And anyways, this is taken form the show "The Boy From Oz", where he is playing Peter Allen, a famous australian gay writer (Don't really remember what he was).

I'm just being mean. Relax. I just hate to see Hugh Jackman act like this. It's revolting to me. I don't find it particularly fine acting and I can't watch X-Men any more because I can't get this horrible picture out of my mind.
He is playing. You know, there is something called "range". Hugh has one of the biggest acting range and this is one part of it. He can dance and sing. He isn´t gay, and even if he was (or anybody else), who the hell cares?
Gahhh! I love it! He is so hot and so so talented!!! I showed my boyfriend this clip and he was all "Wow, I'll never be able to watch X-men again" ...Boys...
I was so happy the other day when my tap dance teacher told me we'd be dancing to this song! I've managed to get a copy of the song and i'll be practising everyday! maybe i'll post a video after showtime!
His dancing is pretty good here considering how few dancing lesson he'd had before the show. However, I've heard from a few people who saw the boy from oz in australia that his dancing there was a lot better, because he'd had more dancing lessons. I hope someday someone will post legs diamond from the australia show on youtube..
Hugh Jackman has been doing Musical Theater (singing AND dancing) for MANY years, long before we even knew his name in the US. Check out the London revival of 'Oklahoma'
Wow! this is one talented dude! I haven't seen this (or something like it, ahem, cough cough) in awhile. Great reminder of why he won the Tony for this performance. Thankyou so much for posting...Im watching them over and over in case they get pulled....

Hugh resurrects Gene Kelly's dancer stage performer pansexiness in an okay masculine style.

Is Hugh Jackman even a real human being? Absolutely no one in this world should be this talented. OMG he is the 8th wonder of the world.

In the original "Boy From Oz" Peter was played by Todd McKenny, he was 10 times better than Hugh, but Broadway wanted a Star (Broadway's Loss)

It doesn't matter gay or straight we love to perform and study our craft to make it our dream to entertain people and leave the world a better place.
Peter did this everytime he stepped out on the stage.
The man was a star and one of the last ones in my book.
Hugh did a great job portraying Peter and if you listen close it really does sound like peter.
