I've seen clips from Todd McKenny & Hugh Jackman. Their styles are different. Both are good. Broadway wanted something that did not make the sexuality quite as blatant as McKenny's version. In the USA we're really not as accepting of homosexuality YET. I'm hoping McKenny's version will hit Broadway soon. Hugh just wins over the audience with his charisma and charm. McKenny probably is true to Allen's flamboyant style; Jackman channels the Allen who was sexy to both sexes.

In the original "Boy From Oz" Peter was played by Todd McKenny, he was 10 times better than Hugh, but Broadway wanted a Star (Broadway's Loss)

@jdanton Well, if it wasn't for Hugh/Broadway, I would not have come to appreciate Peter as much as I did. When Hugh left the show for "vacation" no one took his place and the show "closed." I'm truly sorry that the "powers to be" didn't realize that Todd Mckenny was so much better than Hugh - the show could have gone on and on - too bad you didn't call this to the producers of the Broadway show.

Hugh missed the boat...He plays Peter like Ethyl Merman -- Peter was not a belter.

And I was there for the VIP only opening night on B'way in Oct. 2003. I was happy to be there to see my friend honored, but Jackman fell short, but was supported by the press, who never supported Peter -- odd eh?

My brother works in the film industry and does publicity interviews for movie trailers. He got the opportunity to talk with Hugh Jackman at considerable length on several occasions. My brother also happens to have an adult son who has an IQ in the 175 range, super-genius; Stephen-hawking type math skills plus a law-degree, invited into government-sponsored think-tanks, etc. My brother tells me that Hugh Jackman is the only person he's ever talked to that is as intelligent as his own son.
