I've talked to a number of people on Facebook from Canada and the UK and they just can't understand what the big deal is about our Heathcare Reform iniative and why people are fighting it...GOOD QUESTION! My answer has been that there is a small percentage of people that just can't seem to get their heads out of their asses!!! LOL
Classc....I am originally from Glasgow, Scotland and let me tell you something, the people of the UK LOVE the NHS. It's not perfect, but if you get sick, you get taken care of immediately - that's number one
Number two - the ONLY thing that is bad about it is when a conservative administration is in Downing Street. They get in, and completely slash the budget and people suffer, lack of hospital beds, poor hygiene etc.
These are the same people that ruined British rail and British steel.
Well if you live here in the US now or if you don't, all you have to do is watch enough of these Youtube videos to have pretty good idea how Democrats feel about the Conservative party here! The new theme is the Dems are "Socialist" because we demand social progams whereas Rep have NO problem spending money for weapons and "Nation Building," just not our own. Now I understand there has to be both, but one shouldn't cancel out the other.
Fixed - hasn't the UK overall gone a lot more to the right though? Labour and the so-called "Liberal Democrats" from my understanding seem to adopt fairly conservative policies.
I heard Labour from the 70's was pretty progressive and it's only until the past 20 years thanks to Thatcherism that all the parties have been in a sense poisoned by conservatism. Sounds like the UK's Margaret Thatcher was the equivalent of the US' Ronald Reagan in some aspects?
Thatcherism and Reaganism practically went hand-in-hand on both sides of the Atlantic.
Thatcherism went to the extent though of focusing primarily on the UPPER-middle class, Creating a new elite. Many people suffered because of this and to be a "Thatcherite" in Britain today, is cosidered to be a taboo thing. For example when Labour where elected under Tony Blair in 1997. It was a landslide and has been for Labour since. The socialist policies of Labout have been supported across the UK.
So if you think that the UK is a centre-right country then my answer would be a resounding no. The only reason that the conservatives have a good chance at power is because of the current Labour leader, Gordon Brown. The man is a bumbling joke. Gaffe-prone Brown isn't the charismatic leader Blair was in the late 90's. People abhor the "Nanny-state" of CCTV everywhere and smoking bans being implemented. To be honest, people in the UK still dislike them for the Iraq war.
The world is probably sitting back and laughing at the US because the so called "leaders" underneath the President can't seem to get their shit together and act like ADULTS! Instead of having the best interest of our country at heart, it's nothing but a big ole pissing match! And I'm talking to you "The Party of NO!" Who the hell would take us seriously???
Sounds a lot like the Republaicans, saying no to EVERYTHING.

Old soviet pieces of trash that are rusting by the minute. The uranium/plutonium/hydrogen inside might still work though.......

I know people all over Europe and the big laugh there STILL is McCain and Palin.
Obama is loved world-wide and these 'conservatives' hate him for it.
