  • Awesome dude

  • This almost brought tears to my eyes. Awesome, I sincerely wish you guys the best!

  • Out of curiousity. Have you ever been to Mt Rushmore or Crazy Horse in South Dakota? I grew up about 30 miles north of Mt Rushmore.

  • Paul, you rule. That's really all I can say.

  • That was a cow.

  • W-Wa....WAS THAT A COW?!

  • Thanks for sharing your story :) I agree that getting views isn't what it all about... It's so sweet how your videos can bring happiness all over the world! I remember the first time I saw your vid in 2008. I was laughing so much I almost peed myself in the university library! Thank you so much for showing your life and your wonderful cats in your videos. I'm sure many people were all the more cheerful after watching your vids. :) Love from Australia!!

  • I always like your videos, and this one in particular is excellent. Thanks for all the fun you give us viewers and cat fans. Keep them coming!

  • Yay Paul! I love your videos, your wonderful way of looking at things, and the fact that you help kitties! Keep it up. You're awesome. :)

  • I'd like to see you post a new bio updating everything that happened to you since your debut on Must Love Cats. I love your videos.

  • Paul, you're a great storyteller ~ with or without cats. But of course, the cats ARE the stars of your show. Thanks for being there and brightening my day, ALWAYS! :)

  • I never get tired of them either, Paul. Thank you for being on YouTube.

  • Wow, that was a great story!

  • Paul, there's no doubt about it, your videos are always a bit of sunshine when life turns up a dull day. :¬)

  • @wordreet Thanks! Good to hear that!

  • Great story...great videos! Thanks so much...please keep them coming. You guys are the best!

  • I LOVE the voting video. It was not a flop to me. I especially loved the tuna habitat portion.

  • Love it :) especially that story at the end

  • You were one handsome kid! You are still quite handsome!

    =3

  • your vids are so ausome! I watch them all the time.

  • WHOA! look at those veins on the mook! now THAT is attention to detail.

  • Thanks for sharing, that was a very touching story.

And I'm not just talking about the cow part!

  • I need to go see that cow!

  • haha only you could express how ecstatic you are and keep a straight face and a monotonous voice.

  • haha do you want me to translate the Chinese part for your? lol.

  • Thank you so much, you are a top bloke, greetings from Brisbane Australia. If you need music for your vies please watch one of mine!

  • Well said!

  • Love your videos!!!

    Greetings from Lisbon, Portugal

  • Your videos are awesome! Ever since seeing "Engineers Guide to Cats" two years ago, I've wanted to make my own "Neuroscientist's Guide to Cats" but I'm afraid of it coming off as a cheap imitation. That, and the fact that I'm still in graduate school and time is limited. :-)

  • Love you Paul!

  • And now you're a Youtube star! As many below me have stated, you certainly deserve it. You're a real class act and I wish you nothing but the best. :)

  • You deserve it mate!

Much love and meow from me and my cat in Norway :)

  • Growing up in Wyoming, I understand the big open sky, Though we do have some mountains to break up the flatness.

I would love to move back there someday.

  • I cried when you read the message from Jennifer! You seem to be so genuine and kind- I always look forward to your videos.

  • Your the best ! Thank you The cat landing on the coffee table (aircraft carrier) shear madness . keep up the good work! make em smile:) whats this thing about cats and humans around the world.?

  • You deserve it.

  • I would like to see the Heinz ketchup vid and the one that made your mom say you should use the cats more!

  • You are a genuinely intelligent, good-hearted person. I commend you on your videos, your love of everything cats, your sincerity towards others, your incredible abilities (cinematography, engineering, cat yodelling etc) and your insistent monotone that is not boring :P

    Sincerely,

    SFA from Sydney.

  • An attractive scientist from North Dakota with a wry sense of humor, an appreciation for the Princess Bride, and a love for cats? Where were you when I wanted to get married? I am a vet, and I have incorporated An Engineer's Guide and Cat Yodeling into my Vet Tech curriculum, where it has been greeted with great enthusiasm. It is not yet Christmas, so I am holding back the Laser Beam video debut. I LOVE the Princess Bride video - it is spot on. Looking forward to more videos from you.

  • great story and a message very well-said.

  • You said you started making these films to kill your boredom, but now they turned out to kill my boredom :P

    Love your vids :D

  • You are just so stinkin adorable and sweet!!

  • I have to say, it's kinda funny to notice that you're halfway between the Beech plant and the Cessna plant...must make you happy. Also, screw all those festivals. Your videos probably weren't edgy or esoteric enough for their liking. This way, they've probably been seen and enjoyed by many more people.

  • Wow, what an interesting story. We have just recently found you, so you are now entertaining a whole new set of viewers on FB. Thank you for opening your home and giving others a moment of your humor and craft. You seem so down to earth, it's refreshing to watch. I have family and friends that are engineers, I love them all, and you and TJ seem to fit right in. Zoe reminds my daughter of our old Tig, who is dearly missed. Thank you, Paul. You have a whole new set of fans in Orlando, FL

  • North Dakota rocks. I loved the colors that streaked the sky every morning when I drove to school. I miss good ol' Nort Dakohda.

  • heinz ketchup is owned by John Kerry's wife... I feel a boycot coming on

  • BRAVA! I really enjoyed this vid and your message. Totally random, but you have great skin.

  • You are just so precious!

  • Dude. You're an avant-garde filmmaker.

Like Alice Guy-Blache. She was a powerhouse in silent movie-making when the studios were still located in New Jersey.

    Thanks for sharing your story.

  • Paul,

I discovered your videos through the original enginners guide. it was fantastic. ever since I have been keeping up with them. Your youtube story was beautiful and I could not agree more on your views. Your story is so inspirational and being a cat person, your videos are always a blast to watch you are quoted in my house all of the time. Thank you for being an inspiration!

    Rebecca from NY

  • Just found you when I was watching the IKEA cat videos- your Cat/Engineer video came up in the sidebar. And now I've spent half an hour just watching you and your videos! It's nice to meet you and I hope to keep being entertained by you!

  • Very touching letter, Paul. Lovely. :D

  • I really liked your story, and I really love your videos. They bring joy to my life. I live with my grandmother, and I attend college where I intend to achieve my bachelor's degree in accounting. I have two cats of my own, and they are my children. I truly love your videos as they point out the truths about cats, but I would never try the yodeling technique with mine, as I would probably be thoroughly cussed out! LOL Thank you for your videos which provide humorous relief from the daily grind!!

  • How are you a failure?..if you graduated an engineer!!

  • Wow, what a great story. Thanks so much for sharing you and your wonderful cats with the world; it's something I will always appreciate!

  • Your kind heart comes out in all your videos, and is definitely part of what keeps me coming back. A pox on fame. You know what is important.

    Cheers, Paul.

  • The Engineers Guide to Cats and Advanced Cat Yodeling vids are always good for a guffaw; I introduced some of my friends to them and they howled, too! LOL is a universal language, don't you think? I hope the snobs who rejected your short films feel like boobs now; clearly you were meant to reach a larger audience via YouTube. Keep up the great work, Paul!

    Norah in Florida

  • Believe it klumanp, the festivals didn't know what they were looking at. Your a wonderful film maker, a great cat lover like myself and all around a cool guy. Your movies always bring fun and smiles, thank you for everything.

  • i love the cow :)

  • I live out in overland park and kansas is in fact extremely boring.

  • that letter you read out near the end made me shed a tear XD

its so nice to hear that your not all about subscribers and video ratings etc.

i really enjoy watching your videos, just watched the reenactment with cats XD , made me laugh lots XD i look forward to seeing your next video ^0^

  • You're such a sweetheart, Mr. Klusman. <3

  • Thank you, everybody, for the kind comments directed at me and my mother-in-law. I copy them into a Word Document and read them to her each time we watch this video. I believe she views Paul as one of her "guys" and appreciates the well-deserved praise you heap on him. = )

    Jennifer

  • Wow... Wonderful !!!

  • One of the best YT story i've seen!

  • Well done, sweetpea, it's Zoe's dutch tia from sTX, and I say you have made your mama and daddy very proud! Keep it up please, I recently showed this to my engineer buddy and long time friend--I had never seen someone actually flop on the ground laughing but he did. I think it was the aspect ratio!

  • I've said it before; but I love your humor, and that letter you read towards the end, brought a tear to my eye and just as quickly I started laughing, Jennifer wrote such a well crafted letter!

  • Both you and YouTube are amazing, Paul.

  • Thank you from Brownsville, OR

  • Who cares about those big, stuck-up companies?? The PEOPLE had spoken!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! >^..^<

  • pk- thanks for the great message -bh

  • Thanks for your You Tube Story. Very interesting. I wish you continued success, and continued happiness with your friends -- human and cat. You have certainly brought happiness to many.

  • Hey, I gotta say I love your vids. My favorite is the funny cat fighter jets. When I saw it, I laughed so hard I nearly cried. Unfortunately, my brothers don't share my view. I can't help but wonder how you first found out your cats could yodel. Frankly, it would be awesome to have a giant cow in your state. When you're from Nebraska, all you're known for is corn...Which makes sense when it covers most of the state.

  • I may have teared up a little at that message you received. Lovely youtube story and that must have been a pretty rockin Sunday!

  • Thank you for posting your videos. Your harmless annoying of cats and the musical product entertains both me and my boyfriend very much. Also, we are so glad to see a person giving proper respect to what they post on the Internet. Congrats on being a top viral video creator!

  • I really enjoy your videos. Make more. They have a unique and genuine quality that shines through.

  • could be worse you could be Nebraska

  • Loved your story..love your handsome Clooney-esque good looks..My tortie is a great yodeler, but my 2 Russian Blues..LOVE corporal cuddling and dog sniffing..and never seem to become irritated enough to give me a yowl that can be transformed into a yodel. C'est la vie...Keep up the excellent work!

  • Thank you for making videos :D

  • I was introduced to your video, "An Engineer's Guide to Cats," shortly before deciding to adopt my very own cat from our local shelter. My coworkers in the Neonatal ICU were instrumental to this decision, from the nighttime attending physician who showed me your video (which I loved) to the respiratory therapist who, upon seeing the picture of my cat-to-be called the shelter to tell them I was coming that afternoon to meet him. I, my husband, and my cat Toshiro, are all grateful to you.

  • Thank you for mentioning Central America Paul :) What a lovely message, I really enjoyed this vid...Lots of love from Guatemala to you and all the guys :D

  • Hi Paul. Two things: First, ND was the first state I saw west of the Mississippi (came in through Sault Ste. Marie) and it just blew my mind wide open--I loved it. I watched a storm shaped like a big jelly roll, stretched end to end across the otherwise blue sky, and never wanted to leave. Was also nearly adopted by two ladies who hadn't seen a stranger in years. Thanks for the reminder.

Second: I am a filmmaker, and I have to say, I just love the cinematography of this video. It's art. No-Art.

  • @0MirrorGirl Thanks! Flat ND land + blue sky + giant cow = ART. Sweet!!

  • @klusmanp

True, if you need mountains though, there is "Medora, ND".

  • I find myself thinking that many say Heinlein's best story was Life-line, his first story. Similarly many say that Asimov's best story was Nightfall, from 1942. I think they may have had okay careers after that. 8)

  • during the fadeout at the end you looked just like george clooney

also, that story was beautiful :3

<3 for Jennifer and her mother-in-law

  • i gave this video it's 666th like XD

  • You have brought me infinite joy. My cats thank you not as much. I try to make them yodel and that, they do not enjoy. You are a tremendous success in my book and one of the most fabulous gentle men in cyber space.

    Thanks

    Heather

    Portland, Oregon

  • Oh, what were all those guys at those film festivals thinking?

I also hate the place where I have to live now, maybe I should start making vids of my cats. After all one thinks she's a dog, the other behaves like a fish, so I might come up with something fun...

  • Paul, Paul, Paul...if it weren't for KANSAS we in the YouTube world would not have the pleasure of knowing & delighting in your crazy dizzy life.So my dear engineer friend, cat wrangler non plus, musician, songwriter & all around nice guy, compose a song to KANSAS, for without your present 'situation', you'd be enjoying life too much to give a damn about us wee folk on the Tube (ya think?).We love you all! Now go knock 'em dead.

  • Love your non cat videos too!

  • I was first introduced to your videos when a friend of mine sent me 'Christmas Laser Beam Cats' and since then I have always enjoyed your videos. Thanks so much for making them. Even if I've seen them over and over, they still manage to make me smile =).

  • Very touching letter. Nice story. You are awesome!

  • Please keep making your videos! They really brighten my dreary days. I am a dialysis patient and there are some days I absolutely just can not get out of my depressive funk. I watch your videos and some of my other subscriptions to get my head out of that dark place. Thank you and know you do touch a lot of lives. Give the kitties a hug for me! =)

  • Don't you think it's a bit pathetic that George Clooney seems to be working overtime to look like you lately?

  • @Perki88 Really? I was unaware. Has George been wearing a cat-fur infested red shirt?

  • Perfection, again! Thanks for sharing that letter - very touching. In today's crazy world, ANYTHING positive, funny, moving, distracting ... is a VERY GOOD thing, and your videos, sharing a bit of your life and certainly sharing your darlin' babies with us (aka "the masses") is a vast contribution to the good. :-D

  • Love you, TJ, your wonderful cats and all your videos which I've watched many times. They never get old and are just plain good old fun. Thank you Klusmanp! Keep on keeping on.

  • very touching letter, thanks for reading that out!

  • I always look forward to your videos. Thank you (and Oscar and Ginger and Zoe and TJ) for making me laugh. Keep 'em coming!

  • I love An Engineer's Guide to Cats. Thanks for letting the world know that engineers can not only be very funny but also that having more than one cat does not make you a crazy shut in. I also grew up in N.D., have seen giant cow and bison, learned to fly planes, became a spacecraft ops engineer, drove through Kansas once, and have 3 cats. Our lives seem eerily similar, except my cats will never be YouTube stars. Also, I'm not a guy. Keep the funny videos coming! I'm going to go yodel now.

  • love u!

  • But, I disagree, Kansas isn't boring. There's a lot to do here. From blues grass music festivals to German & Swedish heritage weeks, from pow-wows and art galleries in the weirdest places, to great geological anomalies and the BIGGEST BALL OF TWINE, there's a lot to see & do if you're willing to drive the miles and take an adventure. The Flint Hills have captured my heart since I was a child; they're an amazing sight to see in the mid-late spring, miles of rolling green hills in pink sunsets.

  • I thought the hokey pokey was what it was all about? Oh wait, different story....

We were pretty excited to learn we'd met the cat engineer guy; Meghan was the one who clued us on to your secret identity. Joy & I will actually be down in your area in July for the Sunflower event, so we'll be sure to say hello.

I have to say, as previous viewers have mentioned, I don't think the cat videos get old. That's the real genius in the work.

  • Thanks to you, Paul, my husband and I have incorporated "Corporal" Snuggling and Smooching to our gato training regimen. Your videos are great and I always enjoy watching the new ones when I get a subscription update.

  • Paul you always touch my heart and bless you for being a guy with a beautiful soul. If I wasn't married to my soulmate I'd fly out there and beg to be your girlfriend <smile>

    Deb in Rhode Island

  • Love hearing your background story, thanks for sharing.

  • I'm one of your 20,000 subscribers and yes, it does make my day when a new one comes on. And I loved the Ginger for president videos - I watched them many times! Thanks for all your work! Sincerely, Lisa from Thousand Oaks, California

  • You certainly have your priorities straight. It's the quality of your wonderful videos and the connection you make with your fans that is important, not the quantity of views. That said, it's great that you've received the recognition that your talent (and splendid cats) deserve!

  • Comment removed

  • I grew up with cats and engineers and am married to an engineer and own cats. This makes me laugh every time I see it! It's an excellent example of art imitating life.

  • I like you. I watch you everytime your videos appear in my subscriptions page. I will continue to watch your videos for as long as you keep them coming. I am happy to be your fan. Sincerely,

    Nadia.

  • Paul, thanks for sharing this. Your videos are wonderful. I have watched them many times over & laugh out loud (literally) as much the 5th, 6th or 10th time around as I did the first. I also have to thank the (misguided) festivals judges who rejected your first works-w/o their errors, the rest of us might never have had the opportunity to love & appreciate your talent, sense of humor, cats & all-around terrific videos. Keep them coming - the world needs all the laughter it can get.!

  • You're from North Dakota?!?! I knew there was a reason I liked your videos so much. I'm originally from North Dakota as well! Kenmare, then Harwood. Love the video of Salem Sue. Makes me miss all of the big statues we have there...the buffalo, the tire turtle, the chieftain. The list goes on!

Anyway, love the cat/engineer videos! Keep 'em coming.

  • Paul, this is very entertaining & moving. As an actor/director (mostly onstage), I can so relate, & I have friends who make films as well. I love your cat films but I love the truthfulness, humor & humanity in this one as well. Thank you so much for making it. You made my day. Estelle

  • Great job, Paul. As a fellow engineer (retired) and cat-lover, I think I can speak for the brotherhood when I say you do us proud.

But with all these comments from women swooning over you and your Clooney-ness, I fear for JT's longevity as your second-in-command.

  • I am a nurse and the last bit of your story was so beautiful!

  • I'm the guy who put the Guide on Digg (using a different handle than on YouTube). The Guide's ingredients were perfect for the web: humor about cats & nerdy stereotypes. You're also convincing as a true cat person and engineer. The deadpan delivery, Clooney-esque looks & charism, insight in and love for cats added a lot. TJ was really great too. I love the follow-ups and am sure unexpected new successes will follow (videos, inventions, who knows!). Keep your standards high! Thanks for the grins!

  • @luserjoe Thanks for the help on that, man! I think Digg really helped move it along!

  • I really enjoyed your story . do u have a girlfriend?

  • : ) keep them coming Paul!

  • Paul, thanks for sharing that with us, how wonderful to know what a difference you've made for that lady in Arizona. My daughters & I are big fans of all your videos & are always delighted when you put up something new.

  • i think it really says something when you have no thumbs down at all! i lol'd at the cow. hilarious! but i've thought all your videos were great including this one : )

i teared up a bit when you read the letter. thank you so much for posting. your vids always put a smile on my face, and make me want to share them with my friends and family.

  • You're such a nice guy Paul; #1 nice guy on the charts inside and out! Keep up your filmmaking for all of us that hang out for the next 'fix' from you. I, too, can watch your films over and over, and never get bored with them. Your zany sense of humour never goes stale.I wish you all the happiness that you have brought to others, and then some. :)

    Honour from Australia

  • Aww, this is so great. I love the letter. I work with a bunch of engineers, and I'm married to an engi, too. I always joke about how ridiculous they are, but it's true. There's something special about that particular type of person. Great story.

  • Thank you for making your sweet, funny, thoughtful, charming videos. I look forward to each one. Keep them coming. Happy Birthday, too.

  • This one is richly colorful in its dry, sometimes Chinese, sometimes obtuse yarning.

    Thank you.

  • Sweetie, you are gorgeous, and I love your videos, keep'em coming please!!!

  • It was nice to see your story and hear how much your YouTube audience means to you. I am a half-Norwegian cat lover married to a scientist (not an engineer but has many shared interests) and your videos make us both laugh. We have 2 cats who do not look like any of your cats, but they are still adorable and now we have the added enjoyment of yodeling with them. Thanks so much for your informative and educational material.

  • Your youtube story was very nice. :)

  • Happy Birthday, Sugar (this is your birthday, right?). If I were your Mom, I'd be very proud of you. Actually, I'm 54, divorced, and would go out with you if I were younger. I hear what you say that it's the emotional connection with people that is meaningful to you, and that you have made that connection electrically, through bits and bites of computer thingys on the net. That's great. But as your Mom might have said, "Paul -- when are you finding a girl and settling down?" :) :) :)

  • klusmanp I loved your story, love the videos and adore the cats. I live with an engineer and have 3 cats. You definitely make this household happy. Please keep making videos. You really are a talented man!

  • Thanks so much for sharing your films - and your story. Your stuff is great! I find it humorous, fun, sincere & personal - I love it. Keep filming & posting.

  • paul, thanks 4 sharing... we heart you, your fellow engineer and of course your cats in germany as well!!!!! <3

  • OK, that does it, I'm officially in love with you. I hope you have the same effect on someone closer to you geographically, your own age, and single. Good luck and much happiness always! :)

  • Aww, this is so nice! I think you're right, people are what it's all about. By the way, Ginger Cat for president was a total success for me and my friends/family. We're always making jokes from it, like "Don't buzz da tower! You'll get in trouble!" and "Scratch it on the butt!" and "Bigger tuna habitat means more tuna for everybody!" XD It never gets old!

  • @CheshireCatwoman Oh, and one more thing...engineers are made of win.

  • you are lovely.

  • Paul... just don't understand how ur still single! love to the kitties!

  • The last thirty seconds of this video are pretty profound...I think you really did encapsulate the draw of YouTube and a lot of the real meaning we have for our "lives" in general...a dose of Truth, I guess! I think it is good to make your opinion known in general and what better way than using this forum of YouTube. :-) KathyB

  • I agree with you. I use Youtube to post my vids and watch my friends ^__^

I fell in love with you and your videos because I'm a fellow cat lover myself. I continue to watch you because you guys are great people. And your kitties are just cute ^^

  • Love you and the kitties!! My cats love it when I have your kitty videos on my computer. They like looking at your kitties but weren't too sure about the yodeling. Che, my boy kitty, took off looking for your kitties when I played that video. Keep making kitty videos!!! You are best on the Internet!!

  • Paul, you rock my socks off. don't ever stop.

  • Your videos are always so funny and yet heartfelt at the same time, and your sense of humor is wonderfully dry and yet touching at the same time. I loved this video, and I think it really showcases the very best parts of YouTube and the internet as a whole--as all your work does. Have an excellent summer, in whatever poor boring state you might find yourself, and thank you again for all your work. :)

  • after watching all of your wonderful, videos, (I especially like cat yodeling and the christmas laser cats) I just wonder- how many marriage proposals have you had?

  • And how fortunate we were to be in the audience at Tallgrass Film Fest Kansas Filmmakers division. Your short film made us laugh 'till we cried. That and we had to wait patiently for the crowd to disperse to greet you afterward. Keep 'em comin' Paul!

  • jennifer's letter was great. thanks for sharing it with us -- and thanks for making my family and me laugh so many times. the world is a much, much better place because of you!

  • I JUST LOVE THIS COW....

  • You are such a nice person! But never give up on your dreams of making films! Even if you think it won't be liked, you'll be surprised as soon as you share it with someone!

  • top engineer advisors, that is!

  • nice story. still dont think its a good idea to shake a cat for humans amusement but hey thats just me. BTW, since we could use all the help we can get, does presidential candidate Ginger Cat have any suggestions to help w/ the oil spill? She does have engineer advisors, doesn't she?

  • You are absolutely right, but nowdays, as the human population grows larger by the day, single units feel more and more insignificant.

Aspects like pageviews, subscribers or friends have became a method of being recognised and/or accepted. It is good that at least some people remember the point of recognition itself.

Also, I have a cat that looks just like Oscar, your videos are so funny, please keep posting.

  • That was beautiful Paul.

  • I'll second that fact Kansas=Boring.

New state motto should be: "Eh, it's probably more fun to stay at home. "

Why else would I have a garage full of motorcycles, a computer full of games, and a dvd player full of anime?

  • We wuv your videos!!!

  • Paul,

I subscribed to you because of your Engineer's Guide to Cats. I want you to know that this video made me feel even more fondness for your video work. It shows a side of you that we suspected by your adoration of your four-legged children and is confirmed in this video. Thank you for your efforts. I can't wait until you show off your "kids" again.

I'd like to see how they do with painting. That could be interesting. :-D

  • you must be kidding.. I can't believe that the voting video didn't do better.. Ginger for president is one of my favorites.!

  • Wonderful and touching story. I appreciate the accessible, human storytelling!

  • pk: Norveegen! No wonder you're in Kansas. Some of us of the German style are still in Dakota, with cat(s). Still, I think you have opportunity with cows.

  • Your videos brighten my day. Thank you so much.

  • Your videos were what got me hooked on You Tube. Thanks, from one cat lover to another!

    <
