I have the same model. One option is to open and slightly oil the fan with extra fine machine oil, and also change the thermal paste. I use Arctic MX-4 and made a huge difference.
i had a dell latitue netbook and it made the same noise, apparently thats how all the dell ones are when my school gave eveyone one, they all made that noise.
my poor HP laptop (which I like to call "Lug" because it's huge, heavy, and never really moves) had that same problem.. Until the fan stopped working completely. It was overheating so badly. 210F and would shut down soon after reaching it. It went faulty and it doesn't even move much. It sits ontop of a box with a ton of holes in it, along with a super-powered cooling fan and a giant fan blowing right into the vent behind it and it hasn't overheated since.
To keeping the system running cooler, once my warranty is out, one thing I might try is taking a rotary tool, and some mesh and making a small vent in the outer system casing directly under the fan so that it can suck air better. If you look at some of the mod videos you will understand just by looking at the fan. That will also make cleaning the fan from the outside with a strong vacuum a little easier as well but could open it for other potential problems .
For the most part the noise in the fan is probably caused by bearing wear of the center pin that the fan blades spin on making it loose and vibrate. Putting one or 2 very fine drops of thin machine oil {remove the fan first, and being careful not to get any excess on anything else or have too much on that it will run out later} might help the noise factor but it won't help the cooling factor. The noise from the fan doesn't effect the cooling of the system..
is acer not a gd brand to go with then ? i need a new laptop badly and don't know what to get my limit is £500 and i seen 2 acers around that price but is it a good thing
My Aspire One is having the exact same issue. Is there a known hardware solution to this problem? I just want the fan to sound the way the day I opened it.
i have heard many problems with the acer aspire one i was about to get it but lucky for me i done my research lol ^^ another problem to add to the top of my list fail fan, you also get a blue screen during bios post when you install heavy programs and put the cpu under full load or constant stress
but then again it's winter I can't imagine how the Acer would take the summer heat.
if you ask me the number one problem is bad cooling causing multiple problems. The first thing I will do when the warranty is up is find a way to mount a larger fan for better cooling and will also attempt to make a bigger heatsink. The fan on the Acer aspire one is too small.
My aspire one fan is not failing but its fan is noisy like hell.

I have drilled probably 100 holes in the bottom of the casing
now that the warranty is up
runs a bit cooler now 42c idle 65c max load with prime 95 and a 3d game running
be for it was 50c idle 82c load
Acer switch my fan to one with actual bearings after I complained or at least better quality its been 6 months and it is still quiet
the old ones seem to have bad quality sleeve bearings

send it in and you get a new fan ;)

What i think is that the air filter is very bad and the fan tends to get full with dust and s..., but thats my opinion, shame its a very nice device.

I am pretty sure that last time I checked AA1s didn't have air filters.

about all you can do is send it out to acer to get repaired you pay the shipping to them witch sucks
and then 2 months later it starts getting louder and louder again

I have the same problem, but I use A1CTL fan control and it is quiet 90% of the time.
Although I did open it to see what's the problem. It's simply a poor fan and the noise we're hearing is the vibration.

well I got my Acer aspire one five months ago
and it's been in for repair twice.
I haven't gotten any blue screens yet
but then again it's winter I can't imagine how the Acer would take the summer heat.
