  • "This will bring the camera up, exactly up, in an upward position"

  • The guy in the red jacket reminded me of the 10th doctor.. Also this whole episode annoyed me.. Good tips but i wished everyone in here was replaced with someone else... <_<

  • the voice is annoying it goes from left to right all the time

  • batteries for what?? the camera?

  • @Hector95100 The monitor at the bottom needs batteries.

  • cant you just taurent the steady cam?

  • 2:34 thats just plain weird the way it stays up!

  • im eatin ICE CEAM!

  • Fail, Cameraman at 3:38.

  • That's my school! UCF for the win! Go Knights!

  • azzzz,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • NIce demonstration, demo reel at the end was painful to watch lol but sure demonstrated the power of the steadicam. Nice job

  • Just noticed this is at UCF. Why was indymogul at UCF?

  • why is a hunk of metal with batteries SO MUCH MONEY?!?!

  • why is every bitching so hard about this video? the shots look great - who cares if it's a $2k rig or a $60k rig? people need to get a grip.

  • The Flyer is a piece of shit compared to the Flyer LE. Also, The flier costs a fuck load more the $6500. The Flyer cost ~$8000 when it came out. Now it's been replaced with the LE which costs ~$8000. That's not including batteries either. and those cost another $2000. $2000 will get you two batteries and a charger. THIS IS THE BARE MINIMUM!!!! On mos shoots I'm on we bring 6-8 batteries per camera. Also, looking at these shots, he's a terrible operator.

  • @texabyte Dude I couldn't agree more. Most high end operators... the guys getingt $2500+ a day fly a rig called an Ulimate. The gimble alone on some of these rig range from $5k-$7K.

  • the audio cutting left and right is really annoying!

  • No ads.

    Didn't watch.

  • Great video. I am practicing with a steadicam and this was great for beginners. Thank you for sharing.

  • 2:56 thats a hot piece of ass

  • Ever heard of audio phase! I would expect more from the experts! You guys need to fix that. Also, the advice you give is amateurish at best. By no means is this professional use of a steadicam. You can buy a Glidecam for about $2,500. I would start there, then work your way up.

  • dont be a biznitch obviously he ALSO has a future in comedy and things like audio phasing are not top priorities. Of course it's not professional use of a steadicam, DURRRRR he didnt go INTO it stop being a crank

  • @StudioCliche I agree totally.

  • @StudioCliche NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! A glidecam is NOT a steadicam. It is a cheap knockoff. What you're saying is like saying, "instead of buying a computer, buy an etch-a-sketch and work your way up"

  • kool

  • I operate a Steadicam Ultra II with a 35mm cam. You should see how much i spend in Chiropracter bills. Because of Steadicam, I also have degenerated discs. The Steadicam Ultra costs itself $66,000.00. My vertebrae is priceless and it's damaged.

  • steadycam 8000 + good camera min. 2500 + pro editing program min. 600 + audio microphone 400 = $11500. Kinda cheap. ;)

  • If you want to learn the Steadicam. There 5 ways to learn #1 On your own. This the least expensive way and the hardest. #2 Buy the Steadicam EFP training video, from Tiffen ($20.00 U.S.). #3 The Book, The Steadicam Operators Handbook by Jerry Holway and Laurie Hayball, about $40.00 U.S. #4 Take the weekend course $350.00-$500.00 U.S. Or #5 By far the best learning anywhere, The week long course, $2,500.00-$3,500.00 (call Tiffen for times and locations).

  • 2:33 O_O

    Awesome ! i want one <3

  • This guy is a hack Hes wrong on the pendulum swing. The Cam moves forward as you start to move forward, due to theres more weight at the bottom of the sled. And when you stop the lower half of the sled wants to move forward, again due to it being heavier at the lower half of the sled, thus the cam moves backwards.

  • $10,000 FUCKING DOLLARS?!!!!!!!!!

  • $8K, Thats for a cheap rig. If you wanna work in major motion pictures or in a studio. How does $60,000 for a Steadicam Ultra, sound? Thats without the camera, and all the accessaries, like remote focus and remote zoom the wireless video transmitter for the person operating the remote focus and zoom etc, The pricecan quickly jump to $85,000+. But if your good (not like the idiots on youtube with homemade rigs) You can make $1200 - $2400 a 10 hour day!

  • it'd be nice to use tghose when I'm older, I reallly want to get into the film industry at one point. but only after I figure out where the hell producers get so much money just to rent equipement. :p

  • Exotic47... you wrote in part "but only after I figure out where the hell producers get so much money just to rent equipment" Start out small, Do weddings, sweet sixteens, a schools play, video tape a friends band and make a music video. Charge a nominal fee. $100-$500. if youre experienced and creative charge more. You can ask for 50% up front from your potential clients, the rent the equipment you need. Just some Ideas for you to ponder. Good Luck.

  • @aviatormxpilot 'why buy a new steadicam ultra when you can buy a used steadicam master for about 16000 US?

  • @jokimomagic Acually most major studios and the camera stabilizer operators they hire use a rig called the "Ultimate". in excess of $90k for the rig allon. Not to many stabilizer operators use Tiffen products here in Hollywood. Just ask Eric Flecther a moderator on SOA web site (Steadicam Operators Association), The term "steadicam" has become an industry term, like Kleenex is for tissue.

  • @jokimomagic So you don't get laughed off the studio or the set... lOL!

  • @jokimomagic because we are living under principles of scarcity

  • o shit i just killed someone

  • Кто мне подарит стедикам

  • mmm... Have you considerate to change your profession?...You´re a great show-man.... But like steadicam operator....mmmm

  • Equilibrium music during the battle ftw! I love that movie!

  • Steadicam is awesome

  • i just want you to show me a shot in this thing that you couldn't have done without the steady cam.

  • well with handheld it would have been terrible, but my homemade steadicam works just about as good his, and I only spent about $30 on it

  • it was terrible even with the steady cam, it wouldn't have really looked all that different without it

  • Nonsense...

  • Is it fully adjustable at any of the parameters and fully functional with any camera?

  • i think it will work with cameras up to about 8-10 lbs. so that covers a lot (an hv20 is about 2 and a DVX is about 3 i think). it's not perfect, but removes most of the jitters. google in poor man's steadicam

  • to tell me that you need money to make a movie good goes against indy mogul has ever stood for. that's just the industry telling you that unless you spent millions of dollars on your film, its shit. but that philosophy is so not true. its about the story, and the characters. to many fuckin people forget that when making movies and just care about what big equipment i need and how i need the greatest camera ever. that's how we end up getting directors like michael bay, who make up for lack of

  • is there som sort of university where you can learn this,l would love it!

  • Where can I but this!? What website!?

  • i think a new rule should be you shouldn't own 8000 dollars worth of equipment if you could have made this for free, you can do the same thing hand held with a little practice, or use a bag with a hole cut in it. 9 out of 10 times, your movie will never need this.

  • Your an idot any free camera stabilization won't be nearly as good. Do you even understand how this works!

  • yeah i do. its a fuckin counterweight and arm so the camera doesn't move. but what i was saying was that you can achieve the exact same thing for A LOT less money. that's part of the fun of being a film maker. you get to come up with easy solutions for problems, and do it a billion times cheaper.

  • well I see were your coming from but your not going to get the same stability without a lot of skill in metal working. You can get good stability for free but not this good.

  • i know what he is talking about because i built one which im pretty sure is the same thing he is talking about - it is a metal arm structure with the weight on the bottom - it works just as good once you learn to use it

  • 8 G, what a price! thanks,

  • The pendulum swing shouldn't be there. You need to check the vertical balance

  • meh it was so so ...interesting but i notice a little bit of shaking with it. as others have said you can get the steadicam merlin for cameras under 5 pounds which if you can find a good deal you can get for like 600 bucks :-) much much less then the flyer. and the cool thing is once you get more money or what you can always get the vest and arm for the merlin later on!

  • B O B O

  • Kyle Fasanella is too sexy!

  • I don't know, the video looks good and is very creative but the image does not have that super smooth feel to it. Now it could be operator experience etc, but from what I have seen the Merlin does the exact same job for less than 10% of the cost.

  • very well done buddy! 5*

  • Schizophrenik7, you must be kidding? You would get much more attention and laughts walking around with 8,000 dollars of metal on your body then will with stedicam merlin. The best part about the merlin is the fact that you don't look like a robot carring around 100 pounds of unnecessary weight to achive great video.

Just have fun and don't worry about what people think. Its about doing something you like.

  • I am poor. The only thing I can buy is the Steadicam MErlin....and if I walk with that outside, people will laugh about me.!

  • well.. let them laugh at you, as long as you have some fun with it :-)!

  • bro. your NOT a professional steadicam op. just cos you spent $8000 dosent mean your good.

  • Seriosly loosecannon, why do you have to criticize the guy, I mean he did say it was shot with a Sony Z1U(the worst camera known to man) I have a friend who works for Sony and he said "bottomline, Sony is not a camera company, so why buy cameras from us?" Ok sure the shots were bad in this video, but this is an informative video not something shot to boast his cinematography skills. Thanks Indymogul for the post, I have a flyer as well. Thanks for the info..

  • Hey Thats At UCF

  • yeah I go there.

  • OMYGOD I WANT ONE!!!!

  • Seriously, why would you bother telling him off, he's not trying to show you how to be a pro, he's giving tips to those who don't know so they can better themselves. Just because he wants to help others out, doesn't mean you have to criticize him about sharing knowledge with others. He wasn't even being arrogant in the vid, so he was hardly saying hes a pro, and he clearly just wants to help others. If you dont like the video, don't watch it.

  • @Archive555 Actually, he is a pro, that was the whole point of this.

  • Just FYI, in any given object, the center of gravity (CoG) stays the same [unless it's dynamically adjusted, as is sometimes the case]. The bowl example really just demonstrated that it's hard to balance an object when the CoG is _above_ the object support (the guy's finger).

Fun video, aside from a little technical misconception.

  • "I'm going to tell you how to become a professional steadicam operator" I think you need to be one yourself before trying to pass on this information. My bunions are sweating with the anger this vile video has caused by vile kyle.

  • Steadicam Merlin. Best thing out there for cameras 5 pounds or less.. I got mine on Ebay for about 600.

  • a lot cheaper...how much cheaper can you go. I spent 150,000$ on mine. My monitor costs twice what his whole rig cost.

  • then you're a rich bastard!!!! lol

  • you're right Joncamop!

I spent 60,000$ for my PRO GPI rig! compared with mine, the flyer is really really cheap! (and I spent nearly 8k for the Walter-Klassen vest....)

  • Wow, you could not find a few friends that were not total douchebags to be in this? Aside from that, it was pretty informative. Tiffen trained you well. So from one runner to another, cool beans lol

  • Love the end "Oh, sh*t! I just killed someone!"

    Great Demo!

  • What is the exact name of that steadicam? (type etc.) Do they have a website?

    Thanks.

  • In the vid he said his was the flyer. The web is steadicam (dot) com

  • thanks!

  • HVX-200

  • thanks!

  • Yeah no problem :)

  • formidable cette demonstartion jen veu une aussi lool

  • Sorry, but buying a Steadicam or a another stabilizer doesn't make you a profesional operator.. It takes much more then that !

Headroom, level.. practise, headroom, level and practise etc etc etc

  • hey man, sweet video. Is there any cheaper steady cam out there that would get the same basic type shots for like, oh i don't know, a few hundred bucks?

  • lol

  • nice! - thanks for the video... you know what.. im gonna buy one! - no joke!

  • no you arnt

  • well I did so HA! - Im going on a training course in May.

  • wow are you like frikin rich or something?

  • nah - just got out a loan... already have work for the BBC and E4

  • noice hvx

  • Thank you this has really enlightened me on methods of shooting.

  • How much does it weigh?

  • Now I know what I am working for!

Those things are worth every penny if you use them to their potential!

  • i just want you to know, im the striper you slept with last friday night.whahanana

  • i would lick my grandmas testicals for one of those

  • your grandma has testicals?

  • yes long story though

  • 3:27, his voice cracked SOOOOOOOO bad.

  • haha

  • Thanks for the video, I had never heard of a steadicam before this!

  • oh s* *t i just killed someone (runs)

  • Alright! For those who want to know how to make a steady cam for cheap! message me or, search the poor man's steadycam for a how to. Also quantum petshop has a tutorial too!

I have a steadycam video with the links and all that too. :o

  • Good vid. I will have make one on how to make a steady cam!

  • why at the begining was he wearing paintballing gloves? ... special needs person

  • heyyyy.. they wernt really hitting each other

  • Ok, indymogul. How can we make one of these on the cheap?

  • There's a guy who has instructions for one that you can build at about $14 that works ok. Good for gorilla work. I built a few with some customizations. Search google for it under "poor steadicam".

  • that test film was so cheesy it was funny!

  • I think that was the point, it's supposed to make you actaully want to watch it and not fall asleep

  • Nice...and very "cheap":p

  • dude! u never finished the ninja episode! r u EVER gonna finish it? i rly wanna c the rest of it! plz finish the ninja episode! plz? plz plz plz plz plz? plz? well, cya later.

  • Dude, this is an episode of Indy Mogul EXTRA. As in addition to the regular show. Just wait a few more days.

  • oh shit! i just killed someone!

  • lol the test film was awesome

  • Ha, Ha, ha!!!!! oH Shit I've just killed someone!! and he runs away!! hahaha!!

  • oh shit.... he just killed someone

  • Since we don't have money, all we did was rig some weights to a bar that was fixed to a tripod head. The most important thing is making the camera really heavy and putting the weight as far below the camera as you can comfortably control. It's a cheap alternative that works pretty good.

  • pricey

  • i love stedia cams, i found a video on here a while back where they showed a guy using a stedi-cam walking up stairs filming a guy with the same camera walkin up stairs without the system and you can really see the diffrence....I WANT $8000!!!!!

  • so smooth. I know what I'm going to buy when I'm rich. Course, I said that 10 years ago, but maybe this time will be different. ::tear:: lol.

  • That kicks so much ass!!

  • isn't there a cheap alternative

  • budget steady cam project sounds like a good idea ^^

  • you guys are doing great things here on youtube. thanks for giving us this view from an angle rarely seen.

  • there you go erik and co. theres a new one for backyard fx!! Show us how to make a budget steadicam flyer!!

  • Lmao

  • i want one too

  • i want a Steadicam and that clear plastic skateboard. great

  • I want one!

  • wtf do you need $1500 batteries for?

  • that was a good weekend extra. i geuss its worth it for $8000 if your gonna pursue a career in film.

  • or you can just make a camera boom on a dolly for the same, if not better, effect

  • 8000 bucks!? where do i get that money. lol. pretty cool though.

  • 8000!!!! hahahahhahah like i have the money for that! but it was an awesome weekend extra!

  • lol! i jsut wnat u to know... i was the stripper u slept with last friday XD and the footage looked so cool! the fight scene was so stupid it was funny but other than the fight scene it looked awesome :P now to get $8000! hey! indy mogul! can u make a way to make easy cash.... for... filmmaking...

  • "oh shit. I think i just killed someone"

  • Actually, $8000 is less than I would have expected. Of course, you can make your own Steadicam by fastening a four-pound dumbbell to one end of a length of pipe, a soft-grip handle about four inches up from the center, and a fastener at the top for your camera. It's not as good as the 8K model, but it's close.

  • I wish I had that amount of money.

  • I wish I had that amount of money...

    ...I'd buy a car.

  • lol true.

  • WOW, thats one cool device! i would KILL to own one!

  • "Oh shit I killed someone" comes to mind here

  • good movie consept bad acting

  • did he have an irish accent or was that acting

    ?

  • probobly acting.

  • perfect!

  • for everyone who wants a steadycam go to google and search "the poor mans steadycam" you can build one yourself for cheap

  • CLEAR SKATEBOARD

  • That's great, I've always wanted to see an explanation and example of a Steadicam rig. Thanks again, Indy Mogul lol.

  • type in 'cheap steadicam' in google and the first link shows you how to build a very effective one for 14 dollars. Better than spending 8000!

  • aaahh... 14 dollars u say? i can see how this is better than 8 grand. thanks! :P

  • Ever thought that some people don't like being on Camera? I know I cringe everytime I get asked to act, maybe he is just nervous. Presenting ain't easy.

  • Eric,

All you have to do now is spin that damm wheel and make one of those for under $50.00

    I'm waiting........

  • now that would be funny it would have to be made of....ummm mabey wood but that would be really hard to habe on you for a prolong period of time but yea they should try that

  • why does it need batteries

  • dominoFaz, i am guessing there is some type of packet on the suit that you can put the batteries in for the camera, and they probably only work with this, so you would have to have one

  • ok thanks

  • no problem

  • cool device. the vid was stupid tho

  • I will post a video respons to this vid latter. I will show you my version of the steadycam I built for $30. Build your own just look at the design and what each part does. Go and find a cheaper alternative for the parts (DIY) and your in business.

  • Hey everyone in case you don't have 8 grand for a steady cam just build your own cheaper version. I built one for about $30.00 and it works just fine for my shoots. Remember though mine or yours will operate and work differently from the one for 8 grand. The one I built is not as fancy and not as steady but it sure beats not having one.

  • I think its awesome that he talked about how it worked and stuff but he spent that kind of money just to make shit films that he really wasted his money. He needs more then the camera, he needs to have the mind and vision of a director, those shots were smooth but very bland or plain. With that kind of hardware he really should be putting out some better work

  • I'm sure this video was made in a fun and laid back environment. So, before you go insulting him as a videomaker, why don't you take a look at some of the other videos he's made. Such as this one:

    youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=9W-cIwexDrk

Before you belittle someone, at least do a LITTLE research.
