Knowing that you have a dream journal, aren't you afraid that after you wake up your brain will incorrectly fill in false memories of your dream in an attempt to make you feel gratified that you have something to add to your dream journal?
I focus greatly on accuracy. I write the details as soon as possible and if at least 80% certain on a detail, I add it. If less certain and I do add it, this uncertainty is indicated.
With regards to mass replacement, you might want to look into regular expressions. They're a sort of "intelligent", code-like way to process text. It could save you a lot of time. Anyway, thanks for sharing; I always enjoy your videos.
I've had some interesting dreams, but don't remember them nearly as well as you do (or haven't had as many as you have). Only two dreams have ever caused me to wake up as a result of having them - one involved crashing a car, the other involved hitting something with my bike. Hmm...
Only one dream I had was about someone else other than me. I've had dreams that were about me watching a fictional TV show or movie, but only one that was actually movie-like and about someone else.
On my FAQ, I've explained some techniques to help increase the amount of detail recalled. Supposedly, if you get adequate sleep (like 9 hours), you can increase your recall rate, but I have yet to test this. By cross-checking my times on my blog to that of the dates the dream occurred, you could almost answer this yourself....
Techniques to get more vivid and memorable dreams likely differs much depending on the individual.
For example, I only recall my dreams when I've been deprived of sleep, like when I'm playing Team Fortress 2 all night and then going to bed at 6:00am, then being woken up by a phone call at 9:00... and then going back to sleep after that -- right there is usually when I have the most lucid, vivid dreams.
I don't think I ever have memorable dreams when I'm sleeping in an actual healthy manner.
The more formulas I get, the better. If I don't have a formula, I ask. In this case, I didn't focus too much on the advanced stuff, just the usual fog and color blending (this is just a weighted linear average). I describe things best using numbers and if I use the right numbers in the right way, I can make pretty much anything.
They're based on the styles used with my older animated GIFs, those from the 2005 era. I did pretty much all of them using nothing more than math and calculations - it's how I best do artwork. Consider the fact I have a formula for almost anything with art....
You can actually read all 789 dreams right now. This is just reorganizing and restructuring - the dream content/events themselves aren't changed (except for fixing typos and grammar errors). The format is also changed, though quite similar. The main difference is in the ratings bars (which are actually being corrected as well) and how dream titles are marked. They're also getting moved around. 81 of 600 have been processed at the moment (it was 65 when I recorded this).
The dream journal has been available since around 2003, but officially started in mid-2004. It's been around probably since before YouTube even existed.... It all started with a high rate of recalling mud dreams....
Obviously not. One example, of course, is enough to just a person by. It couldn't simply be a mistake or anything simple like that, it must obviously be that he lacks all knowledge of it all together. I therefore stress that you lack knowledge of how insignificant some things are. How, ironic, therefore, that it seems that I am making a supposedly big deal out of this.
Well fair enough, I only pointed it out in the hope that you'd wikipedia it and not get irony mixed up with coincidence anymore. ps are you one of those creepy goons youtube-stalking chef? He doesn't like it, please stop if you are =)
They are both fun and weird (weird by their very nature), so you'll often find mud dreams mixed in with the fun and weird categories. I basically need to do 10 dreams a day to finish. Some dreams are short, others are long. Those in the "fun" category will be more motivating to process....
Apparently, you haven't seen the dream journal - its FAQ has had that question answered years ago, well before I even heard of YouTube. It's mostly for entertainment purposes. I've been actively keeping it since mid 2004 so it's almost 5 years in the making.
All that work for something that's totally meaningless.

any reason for the B+ on the report card?
LotsOfNine 2 years ago
I just made something up, kind of random but also fairly decent. I also wanted 2 characters here as well.
ulillillia 2 years ago
Fair enough. A+ seems too obvious, I would think. Just wondering if there were more of a reason though.
LotsOfNine 2 years ago
Perfection isn't my intent. It's simplicity and realism. Not everyone gets A+ every single time.

The getting more sleep thing might be a big part of it. If nothing else, how you sleep is a part of it.
I noticed that I'm most likely to remember a dream if I wake up, then fall asleep again. The second time I fall asleep is often when I have the dream.
I should seriously talk about my dreams somewhere.
mystapler 2 years ago
I didn't know about the case of how one sleeps.

You are the perfect bridge between the cold, calculated, irrationally rational world of data input and fixated computer media and abstract thought.
