As a Steppenwolf subscriber, I saw August: Osage County before it was famous and my immediate reaction was that I felt priviledged to have been among the first to see it. It was as powerful as O'Neill's Desire Under the Elms or Inge's Dark At The Top Of The Stairs. The Steppenwolf production and cast were superb.
In my view, August was the best American play in fifty years. It will stand the test of time and be remembered as one of the great work of American theater.
