I've had a voice singing "Oh they don't wear pants on the other side of France.." for a week and could not remember where I had heard the riff before. Finally I remember it - it was on a VHS tape my sister's boyfriend gave her. Thanks for posting this.
OMG!!!! When I was little I had a VHS with THIS on it right before Pee Wee's Big Adventure! ......... YEAH I totally had not chance of growing up normal ^_^ Thanks Mom and Dad
"there is a monster in my pants and it does a modern dance, when it comes into a room people hit it with a broom"... how can you beat lyrics like that, never!
Fred Schneider is a real character. But he isn't the most masculine guy in the world. Notthattheresanythingwrongwiththat. I saw on wikipedia he was born in Newark, NJ. He never struck me as a Jersey Boy.
@Jefgg Not that there is anything wrong with that...well you pointed it out didn't you. So obviously it matters to you or you wouldn't have said anything. You wonder why gays have problems with your kind of attitude.
I love this song too. Bought the LP YEARS ago and loved it. I just love no matter what they play! Can definitely tell that this is from the 80's though. Love it!
He seems to be bringin on the absurdity....all we need is Freddy Mercury in drag with a vacuum cleaner and Yello saying "but you're going way too fast" playing on a big screen at your local mall...and well....that was the 80s!
Most probably.Tom Tom Club & B52's used to record at the same studio(Chris Blackwell's Compass Point)in Bahamas, and a friendship grew from those meetings. Also,David Byrne was the producer of 'Mesopotamia'
variable time of the songs: 1991 Fred Schneider - Fred Schneider & The Shake Society Tracklisting: 1. Monster (3:55) 2. Cut The Concrete (4:00) 3. Summer In Hell (4:20) 4. Orbit (4:28) 5. I'm Gonna Haunt You (3:55) 6. It's Time To Kiss (5:49) 7. This Planet's A Mess (4:11) 8. Wave (4:30) 9. Boonga (The New Jersey Caveman) (4:27)
the clip is realise in the year 1984 1984 Fred Schneider & The Shake Society - Fred Schneider & The Shake Society Tracklisting: 01 Monster (3:30) 02 Cut The Concrete (4:02) 03 Summer In Hell (4:19) 04 Orbit (4:24) 05 I'm Gonna Haunt You (4:00) 06 It's Time To Kiss (5:30) 07 The Planet's A Mess (4:07) 08 Wave (4:30) 09 Boonga (The New Jersey Caveman) (4:45)
I first heard this on a local rock station's morning show. I didn't have MTV and didn't know who performed it at the time, so I'm glad I finally came across this video (All hail the Internet!)
At the time this was the MOST SHOCKING video on MTV. There is a VERY RARE x rated ending somewhere out there where te monster turns into a giant clay penis and explodes over the city.
I have seen the x-rated version. Playboy tv used to show videos that MTV wouldn't play because of nudity or drug use. I watched it on there in probably 1996 & I haven't seen it since.
do you guys know the story on b-52's well, long story short the b-52s did a skit at a frat party and people started saying WOW! you guys are good you should keep it up so that made the band b-52's
Wow. Thanks for posting this. I had a tape of the Demento countdown this is from and watched religiously as a teen. I even have the album this is from on cassette in my car for 80s emergencies.
MAGIC WAND, MAKE MY MONSTER...GROW!!! Sorry. Spur of the moment.

@melodykniss The only member of the band in the video is Kate Pierson, the red-head. The blonde in the video is NOT Cindy Wilson.
