William Roache (Ken Barlow) was actually grieving as his wife died whilst filming with Stephanie. He must have been really strong doing these shots as you all know he was having an affair with the equally lovely Martha portrayed by the fabulous Stephanie Beacham, considering he was grieving for his wife. Must admit i was really gutted when Ken left Martha go like that..poor Martha!
@69kolya I've forgotten what her usual accent sounded like as I've not seen her since Strictly Come Dancing (my favourite show and it's on again very soon, yaaaay!!!!!!) Unfortunately she only lasted a week, which everyone was a bit surprised at. However, I think her voice is still very lovely here. Northern is beautiful, that's what I say as a resident of the South East (England). Not all Northern accents of course, particularly among my age group, but others are quite enchanting, I think.

this proves how amazing martha is i mean she is thinking about dierdre when he isnt god she is amazing and gawjus she doesnt look 60.. i mean every old woman must hate her cos she looks so amazing.. pmsl but she is such a legend i only saw her in this and since then i have watched and tried to watch everything she is in... even in star trek which she made classy and sophisticatede when she was only in one episode...she is amazing LONG LIVE STEPHANIE if only she lived in england where she belongs
WOW... Thats goes for me aswell, except I have watched practically everything she has been in, films included and I have taken GCSE drama as I am 14... She is spectacular and my role model, but for personal reasons. Stephanie is deaf in one ear and has 80% in her left ear, she has had this since she was born due to her mother having chicken pox during preganacy, now i am complately deaf in my right ear like stephanie but only have 10% in my left.
this can make everything very difficult, and people dont realise just how difficult it is, the way people blame you for not hearing them, the way they're insensitive as being deaf or partcially deaf is a disabilty. This is why stephanie is my role model... and she may be returning to the streets :)
I remember watching her play Dr. Westphalen on seaQuest in the nineties and I thought she was just about the coolest person ever. Now, however many years later, I still think she completely rocks! Thanks for sharing this.
funnily enough yes she is but she doesnt look it she doesnt look any older from her dynasty days fair enough a few wrinkles but she doesnt look 60.... no chance in hell... she is amazing and truly a legend my fave actress ever and im only 14 when i saw her in this i watched her in everything... im hooked she is amazing and gawjus and sable colby best thing in dynasty
Very touching scene. You can see Ken's sadness about his life so well here, I wish I had watched this whole storyline. Must find more clips!
