A "good idea" would have been to order corporations of a certain size to NOT do any layoffs to begin with. Pay cuts across an organization can achieve the same savings.
Instead, we have all these people out of work, and not spending, which is killing retail stores and all kinds of businesses.

It's not the responsibility of the Fed govt to create jobs, that is for the private sector. The Fed govt just needs to get out of the way. How will Obama pay for all this? The private sector has their own motives in mind. Their motives may be good for their greed, but these motives may not line up with what is best for the country. You can clearly see what mayhem Bush created by removing regulations. So for example, no regulation for banks means banks will lend money to anyone even if it is to the detriment of everyone else. Now we are forced to bail them out rather than let them die off like laissez faire economics would suggest. Did Bush balance the budget?

Yes, total employment up, but the Employment-Population Ratio during the same period went down - from 66.8% in 2001 (av) down into the 65's in 2008. It was 65.8% last month. This means the population went up and the percentage of those people working has been steadily going down.

The Great Depression was caused by government intervention to stave off a recession caused by easy credit. Hoover and then FDR created the depression through wage and price controls and then all the government agencies they created to help unemployment, all these combined made the depression last much longer than it should. For every job the Gov creates, two are taken from the private sector. His actions will make unemployment worse and destroy the dollar.

Obama is about to make the exact same mistakes that FDR did. As far as repeating RP, I think you'll find that people from the Austrian school of Economics all have very similar thoughts because the real history is taught. Free markets work and government doesn't, it's that simple.
