I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
wow muscle cars should stay in the US .they shoud like make a law for that so people like you dont take them into your country and make them look like those dumbass rice burners
did they actually come as chevelle malibu,or just chevelle,or just malibu during that year, cuzz idk if they just tag the name tags on it before i bought it. do u know/?
y stay in the USA y dont you let tim spred so that evrey 1 can see how nice the USA makes thim god wod yo rether let thim sit in a traler park rusting and geting keyed buy your siste that you slept with so take a chill pill man U.S.A..................

Not trying to bust your chops too much, but if you misspell things when you type fast, type slower. I'm sure what you have to say is valid, so present it as such.
Very nice, congratulations to you. I hope you enjoy it. I have a '67 and it's a truly enjoyable car to drive. It also looks like you've already started taking good of it 'cause it likes clean! Sounds good to go for some fun driving!!!!
The SS was the performance version of the Malibu, usually Malibus had 350s or 6-cylinders and SS had 396 (which was really a 402 lol) also the SS had a more sporty gauge cluster, bucket seats, transmission on the floor rather than column shifters, as far as performance goes they had much more heavy duty rear ends and a few other stronger components
But today it doesnt really matter, almost any 60s/70s muscle car you see has been completely restored and most likely to updated specs anyways
Actually all Malibu's had V8 as they were still a high grade option, you could order them with 307,327,350. The 396 did not become the 402 until late 1969. The Malibu could come with the same gauges as the SS, bucket seats, manual tranny, and could be ordered with a 12 bolt rear end if asked for. The base model of the Chevelle was the Chevelle 300, Malibu was the package ordered for style and SS for performance.
@axeman7000 It would make it a 402, however if you have a late 1969-197+ 396 block its actually a 402 already because they changed it in late 1969 but didnt change the name. So if you have a late 1969 on up 396 (402) block and bored it out .030 over it would be a 408
@Boredout454 ...tks for gettin' back to me. It's in my 66 chevelle. I'm not sure what year the engine is since my chevelle is not a 138 vin...it's a 136 vin. Original engine probably 327 or 350 previously in it. I'm guessing your right with the 402 with .030 over....but I need to do more research to find out what year the engine is....tks for your time.
@axeman7000 Hey not a problem man, whatever i can do to help. See if you cant get the vin off of the engine block. Although this would be difficult if its still in the car lol.
hey, my dad has the exact same car as you! except ours is blue with the white stripes (: he's actually just fixing some stuff up with the engine at the moment!
SS was the Performance package, 396ci engine, larger fuel/brake lines, disc brakes, 4 speed muncie trans, also the 12 bolt rear, also no luxury items aka you could not get it with A/C
the luxury package was the 300 Deluxe model, which usually came with a/c and am radio, and even power windows optional, the malibu was the base car where they had smaller engines like the 307 and the 350, no big blocks here...thanks for wasting my time
Check your facts, A/C was an available option on all SS Chevelles, Chevelle was the basic model. 300 was next, a lot of 300's were 2dr post models, not a real high luxury option package here. Next was Malibu, again a/c was available, SS was performance package w/ added trim available. All were Chevelles. SS were available in manual or automatic trans. I had a '68 SS396 4sp., my buddy had a '69 convertable SS396 w/ FACTORY A/C & th400 trans. & power windows. I hope I didn't waste MY time...
malibu was a better package than 300..... it could have a/c, am, etc. they both had smallblocks. and ss396 could be either auto or stick. nice try though.
Damn nice car, I would love to buy one of those. And how did you get a 454 it wasn't till 1970 they were allowed to put more than 400 cubic inch motors in on the midsize... well anyway love it want it and youre are lucky son. Beautiful piece of machinery you stumbled on
Nice car. But since half the ass clowns on here dont know a freaking thing about classic american cars. I will help out. Chevelle was considered base. Malibu luxury. and chevelle ss was more of an apperance package unless ordered with a big block. The 1970 chevelle ss was the first year offering a 454 big block. In 1969 the biggest engine offered was a 396
Actually Malibu was base, Chevelle was luxury, and the SS option was a better version of the luxury package. 396's were actually 402's but they did keep the 396 badging because of the popularity. My dad has a 70 Chevelle SS 396. I know plenty enough about these cars.
402 was not badged tell 1972. not offered in 1969. 427 was a copo. not built by chevy it was a copo sold thru yenko baldwin ect. so agian chevy did not offer a engine bigger then 396 for 1969. sorry to school you clown.
late in year 69 they 396 went to 402, it wasn't exactly at the end of the year they decided to change the car stayed the same, same badges etc. but the 396 was now a 402.
holy shit, if that car was a word it would be sex. and i agree who needs a fast car when a car looks like that. and anyway, most people rarley go over 120km these days so its all good.
i would rather have a good that looked real nice on the out side and is very realible under the hood than some turd ass 73 that looks gay as fuck and is super fast. its nice to have a fast ride but lets be real what gets you the most pussy?
