This game was made by the time the new (amost 12 years old models) orks figs were made in the 3rd Ed codex. So they are based on the second Ed 40k orks models, which were called space orks and were, of course, THIS ugly looking.
Beside that fact, they are actually really close to what the old models were looking. Ive been playing orks for the past 16 years actually, and still have many of these very old figs.
It's also kinda sad that for most of the actors to played as the main characters in these games as far as their acting carriers went never got past simply being extras, or play the random Sci-fi no-bodies on series who get killed at the start of an episode.
It's only in recent times have studios employed "star actors." Mainly namesake again C&C due to EA's crazy over the top budget thanks to their income from spamming sports games on consoles that suck (still doesn't stop casual gamers buying the rubbish wastes of 8GB DVDs).
I remember during the second half of the 90s almost every game from Star Wars to C&C had live action cut-scenes (paring Blizzard's games which had 3D animation cut-scenes and Relic's games which had none). As cheesy as most of them were, I must admit they were one hell of a reward for finishing each chapter of a game. As far as I know only C&C games continue live action cut scenes these days since doing it is very expensive.
I don't know why people despise them so much, because personally I love live action cutscenes. Most of them have been decent (with a few purely intolerable exceptions) If you ask me, the acting in these cutscenes was better than the acting in Inquisitor. BTW if You don't know what Inquisitor is, search on here for it. Just be prepared for the worst acting you will ever attempt to live through.

It was a movie some people made but when they had made about 40% of the movie games workshop complained so the movie stoped and was never made, but as u see some scenes still exist
They kind of nicely resemble some of the old Ork-looks, Orks looked quite different back in the early nineties, and especially back in Rogue Trader-days.
In the actual tabletop, NOTHING comes even close to the classic orkz from 2nd Ed and Rogue Trader (in fact, the RT Orkz have to be the best/most fun orkz ever!).
Bah, another believer in the lies of the false emperor. Who pledged his loyalty? The Warmaster Whom did we serve in faith? The Warmaster From whom did we take our name? The Warmaster Who was denied to us? The Warmaster But whom shall we remake? The Warmaster And who shall lead us to victory? The Warmaster
To follow any path other than the Tau'va is to doom us all. Only together and with courage and discipline shall we stand victorious. Fight with fire and courage and nothing can stand against us.
the ptau are blind young xenos they are already showings signs of weakness as their commanders go rogue and their politicians try to assasinate each other

Yeah imagine if they made a warhammer movie just ten years ago. Ugh I shudder thinking of the bad animatronic results and thank god for computer animation.
Like in Jurassic Park 1, that has still amazing animatronics even after all these years... which is about 12 years old.
If done right, animatronics with the aid of CGI is still the ultimate visual experience. CGI alone is just to obvious and decent results would eat up bazillions of money.
Or are you telling me you dig the shitty 3DMax-cars in Sin City?
You can play Final Liberation on XP, but you have to disable the videos. You can do it by opening the epic.ini file (with notepad) and replacing the line "DoVideo=1" with "DoVideo=0". The videos are on the cd and can be viewed separately.
Okay, WERE THE HELL DO THESE LIVE ACTION WARHAMMER VIDEOS COME FROM!!??
Dammit, if there's a movie about Warhammer 40k that I haven't been told about(even if it sucks), SOME one is gonna pay for it. Perferibly by buying me a crap load of junk food and the movies itself, and then letting me rip off his head and use the rest of his body for a footstool.
These are from the cutscenes from the game Final Liberation, one of the first GW video games.
Theres no official movie yet but there is the German fan film Damnatus: The Enemy Within. Google it and it should come up with the website. Its out soon, just waiting for the GW legal guys to clear it.
It's not really one of the first games, considering Space Hulk, Space Crusade, Hero Quest 1&2 (plus Expansions) and Warhammer: Shadows of the Horned Rat have been out there way before Final Lib. ;)
The Space Marine armour, and some Orc head were showcased in various british GW-stores in the mid-nineties. Later on, they also had a Tyranid-skull and a boltgun out there - yet those never appeared in any live-action video.
Any 40k movies that get made will probably end up being CG, now that the tech exists to do it properly. See the Starcraft2 announcement trailer for an idea of what can be done.
Well, I am just hoping if they ever do a Warhammer or Warhammer 40K movie, they do it the good way with not so obvious CGI for grand scale stuff and loads of props and animatronics for close ups. Something like the obvious cavetroll in LOTR1 or crappy miscolors as in 300 would just ruin the immersion. And 40K is all about immersing in that grim darkness of the far future.
damn good luck hiring a hundred thousand extras then. 300 was done in the tone of the graphic novel like sin city and LOTR had over five thousand extras for battles like hemls deep if not more. There is only so much you can do. My pick for a movie however would be "Fifteen hours," or something else that is on a smaller scale simply because I think it can be more perosonal that way.
300 was looking like ass. CGI from hell, the rhino, the wolf, the shitty backgrounds. 300 made many a Playstation-cutscene look like masterpiece.
40K is not about being personal, it's all about epic wars were the individual counts for nothing, unless it's a character model equipped with serious whoop-ass powers.
And the lamest thing would be to do a movie with the IG... boring.
I love the Space Wolves. They and the Eldar were my first big commitments to WH40kRT way back in the day. Space Wolves are my favorite chapter to this day. But have you actually read that series. It is a fantastic series and would translate very well to video production. We should all be willing to enjoy whatever might get the green light and a decent production, not hate on whatever isn't our own first choice.
Never read it, cause IG don't appeal to me. Besides, if I want to get into IG mood, I just watch Starship Troopers...
To make IG work (for me), they would need to make something like LOTR with Lasguns. But the cheap and sloppy (and most likely) way such a movie will come to life will be to go with a "Saving Private Ryan"-formula and just have 3-5 people go on an adventure and call them IG...
First off , I'm really happy we can have an intelligent dialogue instead of the standard youtube flame war whenever anyone does not see eye to eye. Thank you for that.
Second, I was not much of an IG fan myself until a friend lent me the first book of the Ghosts. Went against many of the conceptions I had myself, and Dan Abnett is a fantastic writer. If you can find a used copy or borrow one from a friend, please do so. If you like any other BL fiction, I'm sure you will enjoy it.
