Jan Garbarek is a Norwegian jazz saxophonist, the Hilliard Ensemble are a classical vocal quartet.

It would probably be best that you listen to one of the many recordings of this without the Sax in that case, this very CD has a recording of it without the saxophone. I think its beautiful with the sax.

These pieces produce a polarized response only from those who object to the sax...all those of us who love this with the sax do not criticise the version without the sax as we are appreciative to that which is to our taste and happy for you to listen to what ever is to your taste.

If you think this sounds like Kenny Gee you have little appreciation of the saxophone.

Kenny Gee is also an extremely talented saxophonist but is a world apart from Garbarek. The saxophone as a very expressive instrument and every player has an individual "voice"

I just bought a £400 pound semi-pro 10 mega-pix digital camera..it's a Lumix FZ50...and I know fuck all how to use it. So fucking complicated...

The camera was a Minolta Vectis 3000 I bought it reduced about 4 or 5 years ago because everybody was switching to digital and there were some real bargains about.

I just looked on eBay and one recently didn't even achieve its £5 opening bid! £8 including postage unbelievable!

I have a Sony 10m pixel that cost an arm and a leg, but with digital its so easy to pull it out and snap you seam to stop looking for a good picture.

TheMinolta APS has an great quality, equivalent 28mm-200mm lens the film is cheap, its very cheap to get developed these days, who prints digital as the ink costs a fortune? its all automatic and all for £8!?!

Also these pictures are just scans that have been through the YouTube upload, they are a lot better in life and they have a warmth in the colours that digital doesn't.

In my opinion 50% of taking a good picture is actually having any camera with you and 50% is being able to see the photo opportunity.

These photos were a result of me always taking the little camera with me whenever I walked the dog on the beach, for about a year or so.

You're right about the expanse of water though but living on the coast its usually always windy, you need a dead still day for the water to reflect it: photos #2 and #5 here demonstrate that, its very rare for it to be that windless here and even more so to have that coincide with a beautiful sunrise.

But when you're walking the dog anyway......

Well, my poker sunrises won't compare with these beauties, but I think some of the shots may have a certain sadness about them, capturing moments of melancholy introspection as the sun rises over the waking city, and my mood of drunken revelry from the night before lapses into one of questioning precisely what the fuck am I still doing up at this hour gambling when everyone else has a purpose, a structure - and also a job to go to!

What a naughty, idle and ungodly life I lead.

What I percieve in this music to be a quiet sadness and soul searching about what the fuck one is doing would fit perfectly..... don't have it in my CD collection though.

Cracking photos by the way - the big advantage of a digital though, is you know then and there that you have captured a good shot and don't have to take extras as a guarantee.

Yeah all taken by me, in fact they were all taken with an APS camera which is a little analogue camera about the size of a tin of sardines that takes a little cartridge film.

I now have a 10m pixel digital camera which takes amazing pictures but I still like the photos that APS camera takes,in fact I must put a film in it and take it along as well as you often know before you take a picture that it is gonna be a good one.

Regardless of your views if it has brought the Hilliard Ensemble to a wider audience that can only be a good thing, and they were obviously happy with both the concept and result.

Garbarek is hardly just a sax player, I play sax both tenor and soprano, and what this man achieves I consider to be phenomenal.

As he is a jazz musician it is part of his role to push the boundaries which he has successfully done in my opinion.

I do feel that "Disgusting" is an over-reaction given that the Hilliard Ensemble are professionals and were willing to put their name to it.
