The reason he picked Kazakhstan is because it's a country very few people in the west know anything about and so the scope for humiliating westerners by regaling ludicrous stories about Khazak culture is limitless. The fact that the Americans he meets are so insular and are willing to believe that Khazaks drink urine and make women travel on the outside of buses makes them look bad NOT KAZAKHSTAN!

Don't know if Eakleton and akimundak are being entirely serious but if they are then along with many others they've entirely missed the point of his humour.
Snorfinn touched on this but the objective of his comedy is to show how easily people believe in stereotypes, are naturally prejudiced and actually believe that foreigners are essentially backwards and stupid. Ali G and Bruno (though using different types of stereotypes) serve a similar purpose...

I undersand that and am still laughing on some of his jokes, but what I am trying to achieve is to let you guys know that Kazakhstan is not the kind of place he describes it. "Drinking urine and making women walk instead or riding the bus...Or crushing disobeyed women.!" Well,. I guess you got my point.

Two examples Next Friday (the guy outside the gas station) and Independence day (the British army intelligence). So quit flashin your Politicly correct moron cards and take it as bit of satire.

That is not a type humor, but discrimination. Actors, producers, whoever working in filming borat must have considered the reaction of Kazahk people and others. If it is true, these idiots don't respect the people with different culture who naturaly don't laugh at what you have been laughing. Did Cohen ever make a same kind of humor on Queen in UK?

I grew up in Russia, and I can tell you for a fact that Kazakh's do fit into Sasha Cohens discription very well. Sasha is probably best comedian out there now, and Yes, he is offensive, but it's a comedy, loosen up.

When I was working in Soviet Union I have met a few Kazakhs that is not enough to understand who the hell they are. If you grew up in Russia even not Soviet Union you must not have find the opportunity to meet many of them them to understand whether they fit into Cohen's garbage. Because Kazakhstan was one of the republics of former Soviet Union as Russia was.

That I can make fun of Jesus and the pope, and laugh at jokes about them. That's the whole point. It's a joke. Second, he isn't disrespecting Kazakhistan. He has created a stereotype, that mocks people that actually believe people from that area behave like that. All of us understand this, why can't you?

In Ali G the movie (FYI Ali G is also a character played by Cohen) he made an compliment about the pubic hair of the British Queen.
I don't remember a public outrage in the UK. The British Royal Family was wise enough, unlike the Kazakstani/kazakstanian government, to not react.

Besides, what Cohen is talking about Kazakhstan is not true. Seems he has never been to Kazakhstan. Most probably shootings were done in Albania or Romania. He is targetting generally Turkic nations. At the beginnings he says 'iyi aksamlar'. This is modern Turkish language and it means 'good evening'.
I think actors should not mask their talentlessness abusing the people by racist attitudes.
