  • I do wonder if fanny would have permitted me to lubricate her fanny

  • I followed her recipes for turkey and chicken, sometime I even as gammon to the chicked... The bird (turkey and/or chicken) always comes out super tender and juicy! The turkey has never been more moist! :)

  • looks and acts like Pierre Marco White in drag... so similar.

  • I use this technique when I roast a chicken. The result is delicious! Thank you Fanny Cradock (wherever you are).

  • "Christmas is the time when Johnnie likes to get his hands on a nice plump young bird. Instead of the old boiler he gets the rest of the year."

    --Benny Hill as Fanny Craddock

  • listening to this whilst not looking at the screen is lol!!

  • thats got to be a guy

  • @lorainedonoghue She's a she. Her real name was Phyllis Nan Sortain Pechey. According to Wiki she was a wild one.

  • Say what you will about her, but Fanny was ahead of her time. Instead of advising people to baste the turkey frequently, she knew that placing fatty substances such as gammon or butter between the skin & flesh were far more effective way to get a moist, juicy turkey.

  • When they cremated Fannie Cradock, did they use Gas Mark 50?

  • The national bird of the UK is the European Robin, Fanny, not the turkey. The turkey isn't even indigenous to the UK - it's indigenous to South America. *sigh*

  • Why would anyone want to eat a dry bird on such a special day like christmas day. why not get a tastier bird thats not dry? I dont want to spend my day in the kitchen molesting a bird by shoving slices of gammon up the birds breast.

  • @missjacko1

Once again, logic saves the day.

  • Fanny Cradock, the Julia Child of the UK. A pioneer and a class act. <3

  • Wow, she really did humiliate that bird, didn't she? Sarah too!

  • Turkey is the British national bird? Shouldn't they have called it the Britain then?

  • Anyone know what the music is from the start of the program? What is it called. Thanks

  • @TudorBlue its called in dulce jubilo by mike oldfield

  • She may have looked like a bad tranny but she was definatly entertaining.

Much more interesting than todays tv 'chefs'.

  • I LOVEEEEEEEEEE FANNY CRADOCK

  • Christ. Can you imagine waking up next to her?

  • You know, even mad scientists haven't done things to carcasses like Fanny is committing here.

  • "Think of someone you've never really liked, but are too well bred to say what you think." - love it.

  • Oh.... I wish, I was.that Turkey.

  • did she just fist a bird???

  • Has anybody mentioned the famous sausage roll quotation?

(when following a recipe for the above)

'Make sure your sausage rolls look like Fanny's'

The one she makes of course-what else would it mean!!!

  • @K9MARK1

    Oh my word!!!

Spat me coffee out reading that!!!

    Hahahahahahaha

  • @K9MARK1, @TheDaddy20007 Correction, it was a Scottish continuity announcer who said "I hope your donuts turn out like fanny's"

This quote sometimes is incorrectly credited to Johnnie.

  • @rippleway123 So it was really said? I always thought it was an urban myth. Do you know if it was ever recorded or is it just hearsay?

  • @aharz1 It was actually said, I heard it as well as read details about it whilst in the BBC archives. It's very funny to hear, I wish it could be used in the BBC programme on bloopers etc.

  • Fanny was a total cocaine snorting alcoholic slut.

  • @freddysmith123 Who wasn't back then? Nearly every "celebrity" used some sort of upper and/or downer.. and I don't think that alcohol was even considered "bad."

  • An older MILF sticking her fist up a young bird - happens often these days on the internet.

  • For the maiden aunt that is lonely on xams day. Prod (stab to death) the goose. Think of someone you never really liked but you are too well bred to say what you think of them, so you take it out of the goose. She was just like my nan, said what she thought and got in trouble for it. Fantastic. :)

  • This is one of the first clips of Fanny that I have ever seen. The forerunner to Delia Smith, definately.

  • lubricating the dry bird

  • leeeeeeeeeeeeef thin.......lol

  • "check out Fear of Fanny"-a gr8 biopic of her life-its on youtube

  • I have this whole Christmas series on DVD and watch it every Christmas. She is the best ever TV cook. Delia and Nigella are a couple of clumsy amateurs compared to the High Priestess of Camp Cookery!

  • @Craigtulloch

Hi, where did u get the series from? can i buy it somehwere?

or, if i send you a blank dvd will you make a copy for me??

  • @Thehip22 It is shown regularly on UKTVFood channel over each Christmas.

  • @Craigtulloch

Yes I know this, I just wanted a copy on dvd thats all

  • @Craigtulloch Nigella outcamps Fanny in almost every sense.

  • @adam4757 Only because shes got an arse the size of a tent!

  • 2:26 Why I have a feeling that she is full of innuendos?

  • Wasn't she just great! Beats all those so-called chefs of today! Long live the memory of Fanny Cradock! Thanks for Posting this great reminder!

  • this is incredibly bizarre.

  • BarnabasFrid i don't think you could handle the fanny, have you seen the way she beats her eggs in the mincemeat edition, makes me shudder your in for a shock dear boy ha

  • I'd tap that ass.

  • Oh ffs!

Thats just wrong on so many levels.

  • I love Fanny Cradock - her shows make me smile and the tips are good. I always do the pinching thing of the skin, even for things like thighs and drumsticks when I want to put things under the skin and it works like a charm. :)

  • Me and her have (had) the same hairdresser!

  • It doesn't do much for the bird's figure, let's face it. LOL

  • But then it wouldn't do very much for OURS, will it?

  • lol

  • @steeveeBoy do you use johnsons baby oil and a rusty metal spatula?

  • She was utterly deranged... and wonderful!

  • Benny really tore her up. I loved it when he would pick on her, however I didn't know how she existed. I thought he was picking on margaret thatcher.

On a side note I am favoriting this, this looks really good.

  • That poor old turkey looks like he could do with a few amphetamines too, poor bastard.

  • and a head :D i do have a soft spot 4 Fanny

  • Is She still alive?

  • No she isn't ......... She died on 27 December, 1994

  • Fanny Craddock died on the 27th of December 1994 after suffering a stroke.

  • That lady is just plain scary i think i am gonna have night mares now! :O

  • well it was the 70's and the cruisine left a lot to be desired. knowing my luck if i stuffed a bird that full it would probably explode!

  • ...doing to that bird what she did to Johnny's scrote...

  • That was brilliant, informative and entertaining (from every perspective!).

    Thanks for posting!

  • LOL would you believe that the music is actually called "The Gay Gordons...!!"

Honestly....they made us do country dancing to it in junior school!!!

  • I used to hate being forced to do cuntry dancing in primary, so used to act a tit & consequently get told to sit aside. The trouble is the other boys took my lead. Oh what fun cuntry dancing was!

  • 'until the bird is full' OMG :)

  • OMG even the music brings back memories lol

  • Just plain kinky!

  • Thats it Fanny....get your hand right up there!!

Nowt worse than a dried up old bird in my opinion....

  • Those eye level grills, were the best in my opinion.

  • aye

  • Aye.

  • Fanny's tips for loosened skin + lubricating very dry birds - then she stabs the goose before rubbing all those little holes with honey. Too f/cking fabulous.

  • she was hot, phwoooar!

  • Sleeves, Fanny. Roll up your sleeves, girl.

  • She contaminated the whole pot of honey from the raw goose

  • I thought she was touching up thatturkey at the tart - reminded me of the sketch in the fast show - the one with John Thomson with a distinct food fetish.

  • AHAHA so it does!

    Nice one!

  • fanny craddock ahahahahhahahaha!!!!!

did her mother know what she was doing naming her that? i bet she got tore 2 pieces at school, hahahahahaaaaaahahahahaha!!!!!

  • i think you'll find that when she was named and alive, people wherent like we are now. 'Fanny' wouldnt have been used in the context we use it in lol

  • It's not her real name. She was named Phillis Pechy at birth

  • hahaha... one year on from my original comment and the mention of the name "fanny cradock" still cracks me up... aahhh hahahahahahaha!!!!!

  • The poor bird. Doesn't she know its already dead?

  • fanny's on crack.

  • She was the best - Fanny really took some licking!! ;-)

  • I really saw nothing of Fanny Cradock in Julia Davis' performance. I think, ironically... it takes either Australian actress Judy Davis or Britain's Judi Dench to bring the Crad to life.

  • I bet it's horrible when Fanny farts.

  • please stop making fanny jokes, you pussies

  • makes sense really

  • I bet that in the summer she was a sweaty old Fanny.

  • its sharon osbourne and ozzy when they retire

  • Fanny lived up to her name. She was an evil hard faced cow.

  • Fanny is a legend!

  • i love a bit of fanny at xmas

  • It's In Dulci Jubilo, by Mike Oldfield. You can find it in a lot of compilations!

  • whats the song called at the begining, the twe d twe d tar te tar twe d twe tar te tar da da da da da......

  • nothing like a fanny stuffing

  • .....and remember viewers that you too can have doughnuts like fanny's.....ha ha ha

  • I guess this fanny must be a man dressed in drag called Tranny Cradock. She almost looks like a bloke, just check out the hands, very manly.

  • gross!!!

  • The piping bag scene has just put me off Xmas dinner for life

  • i love fanny she's bloody nuts, god bless her xxx

  • bring back fanny she is a funny fanny x

  • Fanny

  • By the time Fanny's done stuffing the turkey, it hardly looks like the 'turkey' it's supposed to be. lol

  • tough old bird i bet!!

  • lubricating the dry bird!

  • It wasn't doughnuts it was fairy cakes

  • Is she still alive?

  • antonoid, Fanny left us for the big piping bag in the sky on 27th Dec '94.

  • fucking shit, shes dirty

  • great memories of Fanny - fabulous! Does anyone have clips of Zena Skinner?

  • she was a fab grotesk, put her back catalog on ukfood!

Even Delia has said she was an insparation!

  • Its funny that the BBC dumped her...now they are showing her programme again- hope they paid her royalties!

  • She was very difficult to work with and I think the BBC had had enough of her.

Makes me laugh the number of times she plugs her book.

  • Just as a matter of interest, the plugs for the booklet were because nobody had a video recorder at this time- and following the recipes was impossible with just the programme as a reference. A good way to shift books nonethelesss. :)

  • Does anyone have a copy of the tv presenter, after a Fanny Craddock programme, saying "I hope that your doughnuts turn out like Fanny's" ?

  • In reply to greenmind2007, It was actually Johnnie Cradock who made that comment.

  • Fanny-tastic! I really enjoyed watching this. I missed it when it was on TV at Christmas. Can we please see more of them?

  • Wow. Fanny was just amazing. Thankyou so much for this. More please!

  • Fanny was a star and admired and followed by millions of housewives who achieved great success in their kitchens with Fanny's help.

  • What a Bird - they don't make them like that anymore (thank goodness). I prefer Nigella!
