problem with disease, but then we have problem with more deadly disease, so the ball is still on the game. And hey, we WANT to survive don't we? And as long as we let the nature mix our genes, I think everything will be in balance.
I think we are weak, because we are more and more comfort-loving. We have cars and elevators, so we don't have to walk to much. Artificial supplements to make our food more colourful and tasty, but unhealthy (my favourite nut snacks:).
It is true though it's not like modern medicine is the cause. The cause is people who survived cancers and such, having children. These people should be warned after they leave the hospital. I don't think the entire human race will die but we're going to have more diseases which will be defeated by the modern medicine. On the other hand this process has been going on for ages and there were more good things out of it than bad.
I disagree, because if there has been cancer in your family, you only have a predisposition to have a cancer.
It's not just your genes that cause cancer, also what you eat (artificial sweeteners) or work conditions - people exposed to radiation are in special group risk.
And I don't know how is it in your school now, but we were warned about the risk of passing genes.
Just when you start down that road, it ends up in a place where potential breeding partners are subjected to medical tests (DNA screening, whatever), as part of the courting process, that scares the shit out of me.
Society would end up being segregated more into "health classes", those "worthy" of breeding and those that are "impure". That sort of really scary shit.
To be more specific - I wasn't disagreing with you, but with Zatiria, when he/she said the people who survived cancers and have children are the cause of our weakness.
As for warnings about the risk of passing genes we weren't warned about this yet in our school. Even if we were I doubt it would stop most people from having an unsafe sex.
Weakening the gene pool. I think you have a point but I think the alcohol is too pronounced in this video. I think that humans have mucked up with science enough that they have to intervene in order to prohibit problems with what they've already done via science.
I think that if discussed another time this could be a really interesting topic. I think it would have to be carefully argued though. It's a topic easy to fall into morality traps
It's actually a discussion I can have with myself from both perspectives. On one side you have medical science wiping out things like smallpox, when on the other side you have influenza strains that have mutated to cope with antibiotics and could result in a super-bug that wipes out the human race.
Actually, the flue example sort of illustrates what I'm on about, weak flue strains are killed off by modern medicine, the strains that can adapt to cope with the adversity survive. Natural selection at work.
Apply this to the human race, the "weak" are surviving due to medical advancements, so natural selection isn't working and the race becomes weaker. (I sound like a cunt again)
What would happen if suddenly we couldn't produce medicine anymore, would the human race still be tough enough?
Intersting concept, this would apply to those who are hit with a medical condition and then have kids. Those who have kids first and then are hit with a medical condition would not make a difference because they have already passed onto the gene pool, before medical science could intervine. Just my thoughts.
Yeah, it would only apply to hereditary illness that would kill you as a child unless medicine intervenes really, I was too drunk to make a clear point on that last night. (and too hung over this morning) ;)
Not a problem evilb, I'm not sure why I used heart disease as an example, it's probably one of the least relevant conditions. I guess that's what happens when you give a drunk man a video camera, he says stupid shit. ;)
This video SUCKS!!

Remember one thing, you are not a real yologger/vlogger, unless you made one where you are drunk.

I still wouldn't call myself a real yologger/vlogger. ;)

I only hope that nature is on our side. I just have the feeling that it isn't.

Nah, why should it be?
We are just another experiment, that got out of control.

Interesting way of putting it. :)

Zatiria.

By that logic, since I know that there has been cancer in my family I shouldn't have procreated. ;)
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if every human on the planet had some sort of potential hereditary illness in their bloodlines already.
My point (sort of) was that in the past, there wasn't modern medicine interfering with Natural selection and the human race was stronger for it.

They teach the risks of passing genes in schools now!?!
That sounds bad, has anyone seen the movie "GATTACA"?
megaleach 3 years ago
What's wrong with that?
It was more than 6 years ago.
Girls had a chat in school with a nurse and women from the Club of Amazons (polish breast cancer club if you don't know).
Besides on biology we had some informations about many different diseases.

Yes, that's scary (I saw GATTACA too).

Sorry, if I reply to you.

I knew that you were originally addressing Zatiria, I just jumped in on the "warning about genes in school" topic. ;)
megaleach 3 years ago
But the genes are one of the causes.
As for warnings about the risk of passing genes we weren't warned about this yet in our school. Even if we were I doubt it would stop most people from having an unsafe sex.

Unfortunately, your generation has been punished by fate with minister Giertych.

Definitely a topic with big morality traps.

no no not stupid i agree..nature can decide at any time to correct the problem if that your way of thinking?
evilbrainproductions 3 years ago
To coin Jurassic Park, "Nature finds a way". If we are messing around with nature (natural selection) nature is going to eventually fight back...
