Nice vid mate. Not very often you see these jobs done properly. I recently bought a Metal Encased Pickup Selector Switch. Would you recommend grounding the metal case via the pot line? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. All the best. Tartan.
Isn't the job of the star washers to ensure the pot is firmly attached to the pickguard? In doing this the pots are connected to the earth plane via the pot chassis. If the ground plane wasn't there then an earth connection to the top of the pots would be necessary.
Thanks RS for the great Tutorial on Soldering! I just rewired my 60's Player Strat with vintage correct parts and the tone is absolutely great with no grounding issues! Thanks again!!
A burnining question that I have always had. Are you supposed to ground all wires together on the volume pot? I noticed some scematics show that the pickups are grounded seperatly from the ground loops, they are in there own clump of solder. When I soldered my own pickups I grounded everything togerther? Is this correct or does it even matter?
Yeah you can put the ground wires on the top like you are doing Billy or ground them on the side cause on some stratocaster the control cavity aren't really deep or wide either.
great video. im only a few minutes into it but i can already tell i found the video i've been looking for, after weeding through all the duds.

What kind of soldering iron and solder are you using? I got my iron from wal-mart but it takes a long time to get hot.
