  • I love PC Linux, I wonder if I could install it without any hassle??? Xandros isn't for me

  • Xandros would have to go. I hate KDE. Ubuntu would be going on that computer, after I play around with the OS that is pre-installed on it.

  • if (when) i get it, i'm putting gnewsense on it. free as in freedom

  • you actually own a VZ200??? cool! it's like what... 25 years old now? however. the eee is pretty nice. the linux is perfect. would never put an xp on the eee. sorry for the bad english :)

  • pft, my VZ200 boots in 2 seconds!

  • faster than my mac :o

  • Welcome to the future. Your kind are not welcome here.

  • Because if a Linux user receives a virus in an email/file, they wouldn't normally know about it (since 99%+ of viruses are written to attack Windows). The only reason there are Linux antivirus programs is so that Linux users don't unwittingly pass on infected files to Windows users.

  • The fact is that there is only one known working virus for Linux. Compare that to the thousands of viruses detected by any AV program and it stands to reason that the vast majority are Windows-only viruses. You asked a question, I answered it.

PS: I'm not a Linux zealot. My computer (which I paid for myself, probably unlike you) runs Windows XP.

  • So stop being a dumbass, drop your anti-linux bullshit, and admit that it's a viable competitor to windows in general user, and bussiness applications.

Linux does however suck for gaming

  • I run Vista and Ubuntu and XP in dual bootso now ive got something for everything, but Linux is so much faster! But yeh compatibilty is a problem unless you have the expertise to complie and wat hav you!

  • I second that!! The viable part at least. More games are getting bumped to the native list more often.

  • ok, name some good games?

  • anything ID releases nowadays, the rts/fps Savage and its sequel, planeshift is a good one, eve

  • is that all? of all the games i have NONE of them support linux, the closest is starcraft that supports a mac. Battlefield 2, Half life 2, Flight sim 04, flight sim x, act of war, any of the c&c series, crysis, far cry, armed assault, bf 2142, black and white 2, counter strike, graw, graw 2, gta, lost planet, oblivion, starcraft & brood war, world in conflict. and i have never heard of savage and planet shift, if i googled it right, they are another one of thoes crappy free mmorpgs

  • I'm not a zealot. I'm just saying there are others. Nobody taking perks from MS to dev a dx10 is going to release it for opengl, let alone linux. And chances are high companies like that are prohibited to release for linux for privileges to release on windows or dx. Like I said I'm not fighting, I have a winxp pro gaming partition. But Doom3 and Quake, are pretty heavy duty games. And you should look into xplane, I switched from FS to xplane, it's way better in my eye.

  • OMG ! There some dumbass there! U dont like linux ? fine ! And We all know if ur a PGM U should use windows! but saying that linux sux !!! hahaha ur kidding me. Im sure u dont even know what is a PC except msn or IE 7!!! So dont talk about something u donno; see ya

  • I never said Linux sucks. My main computer use is on an Ubuntu partition, and before that, it was Fedora and OpenSUSE. The only reason I have windows on my desktop is to play Call of Duty 2, Crysis, and all of my Lucasarts games, ie: X-Wing alliance, empire at war, and republic commando. I even have a separate pc w/ win98 for all my older games.

  • Call of Duty 2 has gold rating on winedb. It works just like on Windows on my 2.2GHz.

  • sorry about that, i am in fact a computer power user, i am using all kinds of different software all the time and have a quad boot, vista, xp, ubuntu, osx computer.

  • you can run _A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G_ in Linux that you can run in win32 OS's and MOST of the time its FASTER and FAR MORE STABLE using "wine" and if wine doesn't work...

Learn The Fuck How To Code!

  • You really can't run _A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G_. Some stuff you can emulate, but there's still a lot of stuff that's glitchy.

  • Your use of the sterotypical phrase: "Linux dorks" makes me think you must be some 12 year old fat kid that's addicted to video games. Even my grandma can install software on Ubuntu.

  • Antivirus products exist for Linux for two reasons:

    1. In many companies there are corporate policies that mandate use of anti-virus, so Linux users may be required to install anti-virus even though it's completely unneeded.

    2. Back-end mail servers that automatically scan email for viruses often run Linux, so anti-virus programs run on Linux to scan for Windows viruses.

  • their are many different kinds of linux, red hat, mandrake move, exc. so you have to talk about a specific version. not all versions are bad.

  • The average user has no need to handle their own drivers. I use Ubuntu with little to no need to access the internal guts of linux. I loaded it on my laptop and it worked. That was it.

And more secure =/= perfect security.

  • I want one now

    When are they coming out??

  • i want two =)

  • I want one =)
