Barry Farber has always made me laugh. just because he's Barry Farber, but something about him makes me sad, too. I don't know what it is but "too real" kinda sums it up, like, he was the brilliantly funny kid that the down trodden people aroud him always shushed until he was as conformed as they were, or something.
I'm sorry that you had such a rough go of shit a couple of months ago that you felt justified in being a raving cunt to someone on every Hedberg video that you watched, nicky. I hope that whatever went off kilter is back on track for you, now.
@lesterclaypool1 nope. that's just my shitty personality. thanks for the sincere concern, though. corny passive aggression isn't remotely as cunty as just making fun of people...
So how do people in the real world react to your shitty personality, or do you save it for your online interactions where the anonymity makes you not accountable?
@lesterclaypool1 you just make friends with shitty personalities who identify with why you think it's funny to hate people who are trying to be nice about something or who are anything but cynical. then you know you can justify projecting your own insecurities and self hatred onto other people because you know other people who like to do it too
What do you think would happen if you surrounded yourself with people who, y'know, GOT that you're just a bit of a sarcastic git and were able to embrace that part of your personality without reciprocating?
@lesterclaypool1 those are just most ordinary people everyone deals with on a day to day basis. and they usually find the humor in it, especially when i'm taking petty, unimportant things really seriously, which is admittedly absurd. but when someone says something like "I bet if Mitch was alive and i saw him at a show, he'd want to hang out with me," i want to fucking murder that person for some reason
Oh, that kid was a twunt, though I did think your approach with him a little strange. I wouldn't have wasted sarcasm on him, I would have just told him, straight up, why he was wrong.
Keep talking man, just throw me out whatever though comes to mind on the subject. I think I'm on the verge of devising a theory on the nuance of sarcasm getting lost in cyber space and you're helping.
How often would you say people online laugh at your comments compared to people in real life?
On a completely unrelated topic: Do you watch British panel shows like "Qi" or "Never Mind The Buzzcocks"?
They're pretty good fodder for the sarcastically inclined, and the latter hosts sarcasm at the expense of the entertainment industry. I think that you might enjoy them and they are widely available on this site.
@lesterclaypool1 the first video i found of Qi was enraging. and i don't know shit about internet sarcasm. i think saying mean things for no reason is funny, and i like it when people say mean things back to me, and only when it's trying to cut the core of who I am as a person. pointing out when someone is being either completely diluted or completely phony is funny and sincere to me, and the only counter argument is "how would you like it done to you!?", and i say "i do"
Barry Farber used to be a bad interviewer, he still is but he used too as well.
