it's a pity that LCpl Glenton didn't find his moral principles after his tour in Kandahar air base. Instead he waited a year and another posting to a unit that would go back before he declared his conscientious objection. He then went AWOL instead of giving his notice to terminate employment with the army. After 2 years AWOL in Australia he then returned as a conscientious objector and 'hero'. Retrospective justification much?

I wrote my letters of support for and to Joe Glenton but now that he is out we are hearing very little in the press. I only heard through the stopthewarcoalition website that he had been freed. The Government are hiding the full story of the happenings in Afghanistan. We hear of the British deaths but not the Afghan or US . The total must be horrifying. it's a pity that LCpl Glenton didn't find his moral principles after his tour in Kandahar air base. Instead he waited a year and another posting to a unit that would go back before he declared his conscientious objection. He then went AWOL instead of giving his notice to terminate employment with the army. After 2 years AWOL in Australia he then returned as a conscientious objector and 'hero'. I wrote my letters of support for and to Joe Glenton but now that he is out we are hearing very little in the press. I only heard through the stopthewarcoalition website that he had been freed. The Government are hiding the full story of the happenings in Afghanistan. We hear of the British deaths but not the Afghan or US . The total must be horrifying. Nothing new here, always had conscientious objectors and 'anti-war' movements. People seem to be overlooking something though, regardless of your views on the War in Afghanistan or War in general, this guy is a soldier, he signed the dotted line and gave up his right to disobey orders. If he's told to go and do his job (Which is what their doing) then he's broken the convenant he made with the Army and as such should be punished.

@Tiwaz81 He didn't see anything, he was an RLC forklift driver, he spent his entire six month tour inside the wire in KAF (Kandahar airfield) at no more risk than a shop assistant at the EFI, he was so far back he had to send his laundry foward and certainly wouldn't have seen any "action" whatsoever, the only reason he's playing the war weary warrior card is because he was trying to get off an AWOL wrap, knowing that the anti-war lot will cling onto anyone, and you dumbfucks fell for it.

Try and distance yourself from the propaganda you've heard about this present war. Soldiers are going in their fighting for their lives for a bit of oil for greedy fat cats - I understand that people have no choice but to go to war to feed their families and so on but you have to put these things into perspective - you're fighting for the aims of global control... middle-eastern soldiers have been brainwashed, much like the us/brit soldiers, to give them a reason to fight against one another.

I don't blame the Soldier. He has already been there once and risked his life for a load of crap. He is clever and figured out that that shit hole Afghanistan is not worth dying for, he'd rather do 9 months than lose his life for a load of crap. Infact we need to bring all of our people back now, and instead resort to aerial bombardment, let the RAF bomb them day and night and then send the bill to Muslims in the UK, let them pay for it.
